Completely insane decision with Walker, who never played at Central and transferred only after they cancelled their season due to Covid when everyone else was playing.

Completely insane decision with Walker, who never played at Central and transferred only after they cancelled their season due to Covid when everyone else was playing. That does seem really unfair. According to ESPN, Walker sought a waiver on both mental health grounds as well as NC Central canceling its season. The fact that he did not play at all, to me (even putting aside the other reasons), is sufficient to warrant the waiver. He essentially sat out a year already, so from an equity perspective, it's really unfair. I feel bad for Walker, since he really is getting a raw deal. And if I had to guess, the NCAA has likely already granted less deserving waivers. While I favor strict NCAA rules on second time transfers, I also have a soft spot for waivers when they really matter--coaching changes, extreme personal circumstances (like family illness), or something like what you describe. I just don't think that when guys transfer a second time because they are unhappy that they should get waivers. I realize there's a lot of gray area (guys getting recruited over, etc.) but at some point you need to draw a line in the sand to prevent the rules from becoming a farce. Unfortunately, that means guys like Walker might get results that don't seem to make sense.

It depends on whether you consider it a transfer when your school cancels its season and you never play for them...

I reluctantly agree that there should be some limits on the ability of a student athlete to transfer a second or third time, but I would be more generous with waivers than most. Perhaps you can prevent a second time transfer from getting NIL unless they sit out a year. Maybe they can avoid sitting out a year if they transfer prior to May 1st to give their former team an opportunity to find a replacement. Not certain how to limit but I have a real problem strictly limiting such transfers. Coaches, who enjoy freedom to leave at any time, athletic directors who are free to terminate a coaching staff at any time, and fans who do not want to see their team disrupted, are certainly not going to want more freedom to transfer, but these are not exactly neutral observers.

Finally the NCAA's office is making it known that they enforce the rules enacted by the governing board made up of member institutions.
Schools complaining about rules they pushed for is ridiculous in my view.
Very very rare to say this but good for them...

How sad of a person do you have to be to make violent threats over playing a college (basically amateur/semi pro) sport. Even Karens aren’t that bad. If the threats are already violent, then just ban the player or coach if it’s not a criminal offense already and inform every professional league overseas and domestic to preemptively ban them. People have lost touch with reality

Another player waiver gets Dikembe'd by the NCAA enforcement crew. Side Note - I hate the way the link button works on Twitter now... x.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1701997628249068028?s=20VCU’s Joe Bamisile has been denied a waiver from NCAA to be eligible this season, he announced. Trying to get a waiver as a multiple-time transfer as an undergrad. Bamisile will appeal. Freshman: Virginia Tech Sophomore: GW Junior: Oklahoma Senior: VCU

This account has proven to be pretty accurate on a bunch of Gtown related things. Found this interesting.

This isn't a scavenger hunt and I'm leaving clues. I picked the thread I thought it would fit in the best because the tweet said they were devastated they couldn't follow Cooley because of the new transfer rules. If anything, I'd think the hope is that you maintain a great relationship and if they end up taking a grad year down the line instead of going pro then you're well situated.

Glad I checked in on this thread. Our insiders have heard from the players themselves, they are very happy to remain at PC. They’re not going to Georgetown, I’m sorry. And no, you don’t need to believe me, but I will say that if you think that your insiders understand our players better than the guys literally attached to the PC program, then I don’t know what to tell you.
And if you think that the players are secretly getting messages out to Cooley while ‘pretending’ to be happy at PC just to pull the rug out when two time waivers go through, I think it’s time to get off this board and start writing spy novels, because that’d be a hell of a plot twist.

Devin Carter has been blinking messages to boya in morse code in his summer highlights.
