That would be great. I just hate this "WIN NOW/ WIN YESTERDAY/ WIN TOMORROW" attitude that some fans seem to have. It is unreasonable and distasteful. Let's let the man do his job and support him- you know, like fanatics of the team are supposed to do! Totally agree with this sentiment; on the other hand, Kansas St. brought in a new coach and a bunch of new players, was picked last in the Big 12, and is now in the Sweet 16. Iowa St. was similar last year coming off like a 5 win season. So while that shouldn't be the expectation and it's a huge and unreasonable ask, it's not impossible. I think it's totally fair to advocate for more patience, but the problem is trends and red flags. With Ewing, there were many, many, many things (petty quibbles with players, drivel instead of instruction, late-game meltdowns, player defections and angst, lousy culture, disheartening practice whispers) almost immediately in his tenure that set off alarm bells. Reasonable people don't expect miracles. They expect improvement and obvious signs of growth, which doesn't always mean winning. Any sane person would argue the administration was FAR TOO patient with Ewing.

I haven't followed closely but it looks like all 3 of the commits Cooley had at PC were at the same high school. 2 have now decommitted, have to expect that the third would as well. I'm sure it's no lock that they head to Georgetown, they will see what's out there for them. But we'll obviously have room and Cooley should get a chance to make a pitch. Overall we'll probably be heavier into the portal than freshman recruits, but taking 3ish newcomers doesn't seem crazy. Yeah- seems like they must have been a package deal in some way. The 3rd guy we haven't heard from isn't even ranked. Seems like a much lower level recruit than Fielder and especially Dual. Might be a diamond in the rough, though?

I expect to be competitive next season and to be in the tournament the following season. This is top 5 money we're paying, we should expect at least top 20 level performance.

The big kid(Fielder) that he recruited looks like an interesting player. 6-10 big 3pt range and can move.

The attention - albeit negative - this hiring is getting from Portnoy and Barstool is making it arguably more visible and “buzzy” than Pitino to St. John’s. Actually, it’s probably not even arguable.
We are once again cast as the villain and hated by most of the Barstool army, which numbers in the hundreds of thousands and possible millions, nearly all of whom are in the key demographic for sports fans. It’s insane to imagine the hatred being worked up toward a team that has won only 2 conference games in 2 years.
And it’s great. Portnoy is giving us a huge boost in brand value at a much needed time. Being the villain is when we’ve traditionally done our best work. Bring it.

Yeah it's really awesome that Georgetown is being portrayed as a big bad villain. Let's have everyone in the country think that and not remember the on-court product the last several seasons...

I think Jeff Goodman has done more work promoting the program this morning on Twitter than Patrick Ewing did in 6 years.

Dude is such a clown, and the fact that his attention seeking behavior has helped drive Goodman to our side is outstanding and something I thought I would never see. Portnoy feels like mini Elon with an army of yes men, and like the provy fans who watched the presser today, I hope they all tune in to hate and interact on social media about it. Motivates players and recruits to be hated which is great when it's for the right reasons.

“Just the fact that Rick Pitino after one day of having his press conference, to go out there and visit him, it just shows he really wants Boogie,” the elder Fland told The Post. “It shows his mindset. And Boogie is one of his priorities at the moment.”
“Everyone knows who Pitino is and what he does,” John Fland said. “He produces pros. He’s a Hall of Famer. His résumé speaks for itself.”

Watching film on all 3 Prov commits. Really like Dual cause he seems like a 2 way player. Very long so he causes problems on D. Fielder is the more skilled player. Reminds me of Austin Croshere. Santoro(the only 1 not to decommit) is a 6'8 player who can shoot and play multiple positions. I'd take all of 3 of them especially the first 2, Fielder looks the part of a guy who can score big.

Better to be scorned than pitied.

Pitino lives like 10-15 min from the school mentioned in the Post article.
The players coaches and admin of the school are pretty sophisticated when it comes to advising the recruits on recruiting pitches (I know I firsthand since I played there as did my brother and am a close friend of the school president.) Same school that produced RJ Davis and AJ Griffin recently.
More interesting question is whether Cooley will take a shot at recruiting the elite NYC area kids. The Thompsons generally did not--Ewing took a stab at RJ Davis, and not really Griffin: but it was not a strong effort (also wonder if Griffin's father (NBA player and Exec with Raptors) certainly did not advocate for Gtwn/Ewing.
Will be interesting when I talk to the school pres to get his take on the recruiting pitches of the schools and if Cooley decides to enter the NYC mkt.

Stepinac? My father went there before GU. It is interesting that they have become a basketball powerhouse.

"Garwey Dual has been heavily rumored to be a Georgetown flip, pending the hire of Ed Cooley by the Hoyas." What he’s looking for in a school: “Somewhere that’s going to give me an opportunity, a program that’s going to help me on and off the court and somewhere that lets guards play and make plays instead of just running plays.” Schools who have been in contact: “Texas A&M, Texas, LSU, Western Kentucky, Dayton, DePaul, Butler and NC State.” Texas: “I’m originally from Houston, so (my) dream was to go to one of those schools.” Texas A&M: “We talked, but it wasn’t for a long time, just checking out the situation.” LSU: “They reached out to my coach.” NC State: “They texted me last night and we’re planning on getting on the phone.” Potential visits: “It’s going to be hard with the Nike Hoop Summit and signing day April 15, but I’m going to try to set up at least one or two.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/former-providence-commit-garwey-dual-explores-options

Stepinac was periodically very good when I was there--also my older brother as well. Now they are always among best Basketball + Football programs in Northeast/Mid-Atlantic most years
