Defensive stops and boxouts are job 1.... and jobs 2-10.

Will be interesting to see what the spread will be. 20+ point dog? largest in modern program history? Anyone with Ken Pom know what his predicted score is?

For what it's worth, when Georgetown was ranked 85 in 2021, our odds of winning the BET were 0.8%. KenPom says Connecticut is 99% to win the next game. For those interested, these are the 5 remaining games we are projected as having the least chance to win:
Dec. 20 - Connecticut (away): 1% Feb. 4 - Connecticut (home): 5% Jan. 7 - Marquette (away): 6% Jan. 21 - Xavier (away): 6% Mar. 1 - Creighton (away): 7%
KenPom projects our Big East record at 3-17.

“The Georgetown defense will likely fold quite easily against the UConn offensive attack.” The AI behind this site knows its stuff.

Reminder we could have had Danny Hurley in 2017 but we chose Pat Ewing.

Just do not see any way Hoyas win this game or even make it respectable. What I would like to see is a coming out party for Akok on offense , much better perimeter and FT shooting, continued strong inside play from Wahab, minutes for Ryan and Riley, continued low TO rate by the team overall, and most importantly Ewing bench Primo, however briefly, when he starts dominating the ball to the detriment of the offense. Easy to look at the boxscore against Xavier and say Primo was our best player with 22 points and 2/3 from deep. What is less obvious is our PG had 1 assist and 3 TOs in the game while also making some critical mistakes in judgment when forcing shots on breakaways and stopping any semblance of ball movement. Ewing correctly identified the continued problems on offense in his post game comments. Only he can do something about it and even if he benches players for going rogue and the margin of defeat increases, if it serves to teach these kids to move the ball, it will be beneficial later on.

Reminder we could have had Danny Hurley in 2017 but we chose Pat Ewing. Not even worthy of an interview. In any event, we haven't seen many good teams this season given the OOC schedule, so I am looking forward to seeing a good and well coached team for a change. It's just unfortunate the good and well coached team isn't us. In all seriousness, Connecticut is thus far a truly excellent team. 7th best offense, 3rd best defense. Their effective FG% is 11th best in the nation. They are 16th best in offensive rebounding, 6th best in defensive rebounding. They block a lot of shots. They are a very good shooting team. 37.3% from three, 56.8% from two. 74% from the line. They take a fair number of threes, as well but not a crazy amount either. Bottom line: Connecticut is really good this year.

Of course the low hanging fruit was Hurley was "available" at the time Ewing was hired. Although we don't really know if the interest was mutual and I believe at a minimum Hurley used that offseason to get a raise / extension.
But for me, I really hope DeGioia looks at UConn and draws a different conclusion, mainly that rebuilds are possible. I can't get over the statement that was basically like "IF anyone can do this", as if Georgetown is in some crazy predicament never contemplated before in the history of college basketball. We're paying big money here, there are examples of rebuilds happening all around you. UConn was in a terrible place in a middling American conference, now they're ranked 2nd in the country today and are a legitimate NCAA title threat 5 years later. Every day we accept the status quo puts us further away from getting on a path toward what UConn has built. And while Tuesday is probably going to show just how far away we are, the only way to get there is to try and change. The clock is ticking.
