A familiar story: stout at the back (especially if Leas remains on the backline), but from whom will the goals come - and how?
The "from whom" is presumably "Henley Tippins and Cyanne Doyle," as well as grad student/Dartmouth lead scorer Allie Winstanley. I would expect some additional opportunistic contributions from Tatum Lenain, Maja Lardner, and Erika Harwood, and Claire Manning. On paper, it's a fair number of weapons and a multiplicity of different types of attack. I'm excited to see how it gels during the OOC stretch against some tough competition.

Don’t forget Eliza Turner. Had a memorable GWG last season at Providence and an important goal in the regular season finale at Butler. Generally had not had a major offensive role, though listed as a Midfielder, which could just be the usual position goofiness, but who knows what Dave is thinking about testing out. Also wondering if we'll see a Romero/Giannis-like alternation in net with Augur and Cara Martin.

Thanks for sharing, Dan. I definitely appreciated the in-depth preview. I got to see most of the second half of last week's scrimmage vs. Towson. That meant I didn't get to see many of the presumed starters, but I was able to get a look at many of the newcomers. Winstanley definitely stood out for her speed down the sideline with the ball. She showed the ability to maintain ball control and forward progress, even against several double-teams, and beat the defenders to the baseline and serve a ball into the box. The other newcomer who definitely intrigued me was Shay Montgomery, who looks to have the ability to create opportunities for others from the center of the field. She also took two shots from just outside/just inside the box, which were both high, but they showed a willingness to take a good shot opportunity rather than wait too long to see if a great shot became available. Last season on offense, it seemed like there were too many decent opportunities passed up in the offensive half, which eventually gave the opposing defense time to settle and break things up. Word from around the team is that the coaches and the veteran players are very high on the potential for this team. A lot will come down to how well they are able to gel over the next few weeks. I'm looking forward to getting a taste of that with tomorrow's opener.

Really excited for this season! Dave's comments have me really jazzed (bolding in the original):

Unfortunately they gave up the equalizer at 86:19 and had to settle for the tie.
