Allegedly mixing it up w Darius McGhee and the Liberty Flames today. www.liberty.edu/flames/mens-basketball/roster/Liberty is KenPom #82, for whatever that is worth at this time of year, and pre-season #1 in the Atlantic Sun. McGhee is a Cousey Award watchlister and pre-season POTY in the ASun. Should be a decent run for our GU Hoyas and a chance to see if back court/perimeter GFense has improved. Expect the usual trickle of conflicting and confusing news to emerge as we cross the 10 day threshold before real games begin. #HoyaSaxa #123Fireballs News on this?

Anyone have any scrimmage news (crickets). Many other teams not afraid of letting news out about their squad.

A source of known reliability has reported that the Hoyas won the scrimmage against Liberty, 72-65. Primo Spears ran the point, Q looks basically the same, Akok hit a 3 and a pressing defense was tried out. Heath was there but did not play. Harris was not there. The game was played at Cap One.

Thank you for the report. With the improved athleticism, I hope that they will use the press quite a bit more this year, but assume that depends upon what they get from Wahab/Akok/other bigs on the back end.

And forget to mention that Denver Anglin backed up PG but the source suggested he is better suited as a shooting guard. I also hope to see more press and hitting 3s on the secondary break. I'd love to see a press against Coppin State and hope Dante is back by then and Heath is eligible.

If true this is a quality tests vs a good system. Liberty runs a pack line with their UVA disciple coach and were a tourney team for 3 straight years (2018-2021) and almost made it last year. (Finished first in the Eastern Division) To be fair a 7 pt win vs a Packline team is like a 14 win vs a normal team because Packline defense like the Princeton Offense slows the game and scoring down.

He seems like the type of pure shooter that we have needed for years. I really hope he gets some playing time regardless of whether Harris is with the team, or whether Heath gets a waiver (but I agree, we really need Heath to get that waiver).

Agree: If Dante gets back and Anglin is a catch and shoot guy and accurate - this would take some pressure off of Dante to shoot as much and concentrate on being the floor general. It also seems to me if Anglin is given some PG duties we need him at least to get the ball over half court and limit turnovers. Isn't this what the Coaches are there to figure out. Off comment: Did you see Zion bring the ball up the court in some of the highlights.

Should have said "not shoot as much".

It’s interesting that the locusts are silent on the scrimmage yet are jumping for glee over on the Dante threads.

It’s interesting that the locusts are silent on the scrimmage yet are jumping for glee over on the Dante threads. You are just as one-sided with your opinions as the "locusts" and "haters" you complain about; you just happen to be on the other side of the spectrum. It may be "interesting" to you that people aren't fawning over a preseason scrimmage that an unknown source "reported" the Hoyas won, but sensible fans will wait for a real game to judge the team's performance. Thankfully, we don't have to wait much longer.

My opinion continues to be that the Coppin State opener will be the first time any of us will have a foundation to assess the team. I will be one of the few in attendance on election night!

We still technically don't know what's up with Dante but the usual suspects are tying this into the Ewing player exodus cycle. I think we can all go out on a limb and assume Ewing isn't running Dante off. Whether Dante is on the team or not will be his decision.
