Glad to hear his visit went well. If you never go after these kids, you are guaranteed never to get them. Do any of these guys ever say their visits went badly?

"NO. 30 OVERALL: ISAIAH MIRANDA, C, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ACADEMY ommitment Date: TBD Contenders: Connecticut, Georgetown, Louisville, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, UCLA, USC and Pro Route Crystal Ball: TBD It seems as though Isaiah Miranda is not in any rush to make a decision. He cut his list down to eight schools. But, he's also Draft eligible and will be gathering NBA feedback to vet that options in the months ahead. He's taken visits to Georgetown, Louisville and USC and will take more. But, if this decision was made today, my bet would be placed on the Louisville Cardinals." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/national-signing-day-basketball-2023-top-10-uncommitted-prospects-isaiah-collier-dj-wagner-aj-johnson-baye-fall-cody-williams-bronny-james-197087656/#197087656_7

"Isaiah Miranda is one of the top big men remaining on the board, and there’s been no timetable for his decision. This recruitment should most likely drag out into the spring, and there’s no clear-cut leader at this time. He’s taken official visits to Louisville, USC and Georgetown, and he could still take a couple more. Miranda has also considered the possibility of the pro route. Since he's draft eligible, I believe he’ll wait longer to make a decision than most players in the class so he can get the most complete feedback from the NBA." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/early-signing-period-latest-on-top-five-uncommitted-prospects

We're not even listed as a school of interest. Should we still be bothering with him? I guess for a 7'1" 4-star, you stay to the end. Just don't know why we aren't even on his list.

The recruiting sites tend to be terrible at accurately listing the schools of interest. Every sense is that it's a 3-team race between USC, Georgetown and Louisville right now (at least in terms of college choices). I think Rhode Island was in there as well, as it's his home state. But the professional option has been heating up lately as well. In terms of colleges, the talk is Louisville has a slight lead right now. But since his recruitment is likely to drag on for months, I wouldn't read much into who has a 'slight' lead. Miranda has really talked up the G'Town staff in his interviews, more so than the other programs, so that's a good sign. I saw on Twitter last night, YaBoy posted an IG picture that Miranda posted where he landed @ Baltimore/DC airport last night. No inclination it's Georgetown related, but could be something!

If I were a betting man...I'd say he's going the pro route. I can't think of any of the draft eligible seniors who've opted for college in recent memory.

Major development here on the USC front. Hard to understand why he would want to play for Patrick Ewing or Kenny Payne, but this appears to be where things stand: "4-star PF Isaiah Miranda Isaiah Miranda Size: 7-0 / 200 School: SoCal Academy (Castaic, CA) Contenders: UCLA, USC, Oregon, Louisville, Georgetown, Texas, UConn, Rhode Island On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 27 Isaiah Miranda is the top-available big man in the country. He’s down to eight schools but has only taken three visits (USC, Georgetown, Louisville). With that being said, Louisville and Georgetown are the presumed leaders in his recruitment. Note: USC is no longer involved." www.on3.com/news/top-uncommitted-prospects-in-the-2023-recruiting-class/

If there is one coach that Ewing may be better than is Kenny Payne right now...their start to the season is a total dumpster fire... Best I can guess is maybe he has seen the success of Akok and pictures that same success for himself? To be crystal clear I am not saying Akok is playing well because of Ewing just saying he has played well within this system...

Then again, maybe the three of them are not here next year.

As long as Ewing is coach, it doesn’t matter.

"Isiah Miranda, a postgraduate 7-footer out of Southern California Academy, meets the eligibility requirements for next year’s NBA Draft, and he is expected to at least test the waters on that front. That said, he’ll likely commit to a college program and play there should he not get the feedback he wants after working out for NBA scouts. Which school that will be, however, remains a bit in flux. USC once looked like a safe bet for Miranda, but it’s unclear where the Trojans currently stand. The four-star big has also visited Louisville and Georgetown, both of which are worth monitoring. Miranda may well take a few more visits before making any sort of decision as he doesn’t seem to be in much of a rush to explore his college options." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/what-storylines-remain-after-early-signing-period-

"With only taking one official visit since September 1, Miranda has four available official visits to take between now and the late signing period. Rhode Island: “That’s my hometown, so I gotta show them, love. They’ve been showing me love, since I started playing. It’s been one of my dreams to play for my hometown. The new coaches at URI, I haven’t really been talking to them, but I talk to the players, and they really make me feel at home.” Texas: “I really like my relationship with them. They had Kevin Durant, and they give me that comparison a lot and say how they can form and mold me to be kind of like him on offense and really expand my game.” Oregon: “Oregon likes the way I run up and down the court. They like to play up and down really fast. That’s how I like to play with my teams.” Isaiah Miranda is in his fifth year of high school. He has submitted his papers for graduation, so he will be one year removed from high school graduation, making him eligible for the 2023 NBA Draft. NBA personnel are already paying attention to Miranda. “I’m just looking at every option,” Miranda said. “I’m really letting it sink in with me before I make my next move. So I feel like that option’s still on the table, but so is college. I’m looking for a place that is going to develop me to be a pro and stay in the league. There are a lot of guys that get to the NBA, but it’s really about how long you can stay. There are older guys in there who come for your spot every day.” www.on3.com/news/4-star-isaiah-miranda-talks-nba-possibilities-and-future-visits-louisville-texas-rhode-island-oregon/

Just a couple things on Miranda. USC has been ruled out, as reported by On3 on November 18th.
And not that we're off to a rocking start, but at least we're not off to a soon-to-be 0-5 start like Louisville, with losses to Bellarmine, Appalachian State and Wright St. L'Ville also got thrashed by Arkansas and are being absolutely dominated by Texas Tech right now. So if it really is between us and Louisville right now (although I'm sure other programs will emerge --- especially if Oregon and Texas really get involved here), we're doing better than Louisville!

And, our coach is hopefully going to get fired soon while Louisville is in the early days of a new coach so we have some upside as well.
