Just when you thought you’ve seen it all. I am excited to see what this group can do. I am sure this Q news will fuel some epic and bizarre battles this board could really use more of. LFG!! Is Q eligible immediately? I thought the new transfer rule only applied to one's first transfer? We’ll see but probably counting on a waiver since his former head coach stepped down.

He's limited but we were more limited without him, and when he was here he was productive. Not your modern skilled big man but there's nothing wrong with a bruiser who can grab boards and be a bully on offense. The roster for next year is more of a Big East roster than last year by a wide margin. Last year just wasn't even close. I still don't see more than 6ish conference wins due primarily to the lack of depth and still a talent gap with the top or even middle of the league, but it's a step in the right direction. The big questions to me revolve around who plays on the wing (small forward if you like) and if we can rely yet again on freshmen to play a much bigger role in the Big East than they should have to. We're going to need Anglin and Bass to play at least 10 minutes a game each and it's just so rare in college basketball, especially with the covid year and portal, to have recruits outside of the top 30-40ish that can play a lot of minutes on a good major conference team. Big East caliber for each position, in my OPINION: PG: none (unless Anglin is way ahead of where most guards his age would be. He'll be an awesome player for us down the line though) SG: Murray, Heath? SF: none PF: Akok Akok C: Qudus I think Mozone is a massive reach and I would so much rather Ewing pursue guys transferring from high majors that average 5 a game than guys from borderline division 1 conferences who light it up, because it's so much more of a known commodity. I do think he can help us but relying on him for as big a role as we will be is not something you would ever catch UCONN, Provvy, Nova, etc. doing. Feels like a DePaul type get which we've had way too many of. We also just seem to be continuing our habit of recruiting consistently inefficient transfers and then expecting to have an efficient offense. Spears was incredibly inefficient last year, and Heath wasn't great either, offering little outside of modest scoring on a modest shooting average. Cmon now. I understand being pessimistic but this is wild…. No idea how the talent gels and there are a ton of things that have to happen But strictly talent level, this will be easily the most talented Georgetown team since 2013….easily….now that doesn’t guarantee wins at all…but the talent level is absolutely there Yea I'm just going to have to disagree with that. Qudus is... fine. Akok is an unknown. Dante has thus far not been good enough. Heath is inefficient. I just don't see how you think this roster is more talented than the team that was a 4 seed and lost to Utah in the second round. Just because a guy averaged x amount of points doesn't mean he's a good player. Several of our transfer commits, like others in Ewing's tenure, are inefficient, not good passers, and suspect defenders.

2018/19 and 2019/20 had decent enough talent if you check out the rosters. Everything has to go right for this bunch to be as talented. ( plenty of unknowns …so it could happen…but that’s far from a given. ) Obviously the 2019/20 season collapsed with the Yurt and Mac season ending injuries.

This team doesn’t have a guy as good as either of Akinjo or Yurtseven. But I can definitely see it being a tossup. It’s a very deep group with more than a few guys that could really do so damage. Just needs a fair amount of luck for a lot of things to go our way.

Time will tell, but I think Murray is a future NBA rotation player. Also think he can be a first team all big east guy. But I definitely see the point. That 18-19 team was certainly talented

I definitely have mixed feelings. On one hand I'm happy to have Q back because Ryan and Q are light-years ahead of any tandem I anticipated having. On the other hand I'm salty because we don't go through last year with Q on the roster. The season is still bad but not historically bad and I blame Q/Simmonds for that outcome. Welcome back to the Hilltop Q!!!!

Primo is a question mark in that area.

Welcome back to the Hilltop Q!!!! It’s déjà vu all over again. I’m glad Q’s back. It’s a win-win for Q and Pat. Pat tried to get a better players at Q’s position, but whiffed. Instead, he has a proven BE player under him. If Pat is right, hopefully he stays two more years 😉 :

Primo is a question mark in that area. His effective field goal percentage was fine, but he wasn't a great passer or rebounder and didn't get to the line a ton. I think Heath is a good piece don't get me wrong, I just would like to see him be able to adjust to the higher usage while maintaining or improving his effective field goal percentage and improving his efficiency in other areas such as rebounding, passing, and taking care of the basketball. Primo is obviously just absurdly inefficient but I definitely shouldn't be putting Heath in that same category the more and more I look at his advanced stats. He can be a good piece for sure I just want to see him getting to the line more and hitting a higher clip of two point field goals (often has to do with shot selection).

Welcome back, Qudus! It will be great to see you in a Hoya uniform again!
To the naysayers and whiners, let's keep in mind: focus on the parts of his game that weren't strong a year ago and you risk dismissing his significant strong points and what his overall presence on both ends of the court will mean this coming year. Focus on his leaving for UMD and what might have looked and felt like betrayal and you overlook what a year of possible humbling maturation could mean. Focus on his numbers at MD and project them onto the entire upcoming season and you say you forget one of the key pieces of the team that stunned the BE in 2021 and you imply that you have no faith in the coaching staff to build on his talents and develop the strategies that will make him a solid effective contributor this year.
I'm not saying we just ignore these things -- just don't make them the main thing and convince yourself that there's more than a little room for hope with his coming back.
That being said, so much for me rests on the coaches and what they are able to do with this group of players this summer and fall. To me, there is potential for a much-improved, quicker defense (please, God, press early and often), and a faster, more athletic, exciting offense. We were in the top 4 teams in the BE in 3-point shooting last season -- all indications are that they will be even better this year. I like the competition for playing time, and I pray that Ryan is in the gym right now getting stronger and jumping higher.
Lots of question marks, yes. But also lots of talent and better athleticism than last year. Adding Q to the team definitely makes them better defensively. Offensively remains to be seen. I'm glad he's back and I'm excited to see the team on the floor this November.

Ewing saved his job, dumped a couple assistants which may or may not have been compelled, hired/promoted two assistants with stronger DMV credentials, lost all but one starter and all but two bench players from last season's 0-20 team (not counting Riley who was hurt), and recruited a bunch of athletic and presumably mostly high major quality players. No more excuses please. If this does not work it has to be time to move on.
