Breaking this down. Would Q improve the team next year? Can we bring in a 5 who would improve the team more next year? From Ewing's perspective, did Q burn his bridges? Does Q want to come back?
I'm in his corner but the answer to question three is crucial.

Yes, but he has other great options as well (some of which are probably less awkward for him)

I mean that makes the most sense since that’s the only place where he would be assured that he wouldn’t have to sit out a year.

I think he’d play more here, if eligible. Pat overvalued Q, much like he overvalues Dante.

Parents are still in Nigeria, if I remember correctly. He was a boarding student in high school. Duval was "looking after" Wahab in the US. Common with a lot of young players from Africa. Sometimes parents come along, but not always, but few have any background with basketball, which can lead to giant messes. Many players have good coaches and guardians looking after them, but others are out themselves as a guardian / coach.
Every late summer there is a scramble with travel teams with international players (most often from Africa) and coaches are looking for high schools who have international student player capability, but also the schools approve and are approved for housing international student players. Sometimes the coach can have one or two players living with them, some have sponsor families, while others have guardians "look after" them.
With the guardians the parents usually have a contract with them to look after their child, but also have rights given to them to make health and other life decisions on their behalf.
Most situations are good, but that isn't all of them.

Most situations are good, but that isn't all of them. Article from Sports Illustrated. It can be exploitive and sometimes criminal. For all the basketball players from Africa who make it big, a much larger group comes to America, only to be victimized by corrupt coaches and recruiters motivated by a big payoff. A year-long 60 Minutes investigation, followed the Africa-to-U.S. basketball trail. The inescapable conclusion: It is littered with corrupt fly-by-night high schools and shadowy middlemen and academies that mislead families, run roughshod over immigration rules and sometimes commit federal crimes. Says Scott Rosner, professor of sports management at Columbia University, “It’s very much the Wild West.” www.si.com/nba/2020/03/27/nba-african-players-trafficking

The freshman center at Md, I believe Reese, is a clearly more skilled player than Wahab. By the middle of the year he was playing more minutes than Q. Doubt that changes next yr.

Again, hard pass. Wahab was given more opportunities than he earned and he still wasn't happy. And, he's added not a thing to his game. He'll, very likely, get fewer touches moving forward so how could he possibly be happy? Pass. I wish him luck elsewhere. I just don't envision him having more than he's already had.

This and he left once already. I can't think of any situation where I would want a kid back unless it was some odd thing where he had to leave to go back home because of the ill health of a parent or sibling. If that parent or sibling then got better or died, I would accept him back. That is the only scenario I can imagine. It is rough, yes. Is it dark, yes. Should we have Q back, HELL NO!!!

Kids make mistakes, especially under the influence of handlers. It would be very GU to forgive.

Having Wahab or another Wahab quality 5 or going into next season with what we currently have is the difference between a 10th place BE finish and a pssible bubble team.

Assuming that said process worked out and did not cause more problems and turmoil...maybe.

It’s a bit odd that he hasn’t landed somewhere. Could mean he’s staying or coming here in typical stealth fashion.

Maryland fans and insiders seem to think he’s returning to Georgetown.
