At this point, I’m just afraid of what a single win would mean for the likelihood that Ewing returns next season. In the grand scheme it should mean nothing. But somehow it doesn’t feel that way.

Depressing to think you may be right. We do not match up well at all against UConn, so let's see what happens there. A close game against Nova, and a better that expected game against UConn (like getting blown out by 20 instead of 30), plus a win vs. DePaul: got a nice little knot in my stomach & a creeping ominous feeling that we here in HoyaTalk Land live in a different reality than the Admin, AD, David Falk, and the B of T.
If we don't want to keep screaming into the void, it may just be time to start flooding Jack D's inbox with letters from impassioned fans. Remember, hope is not a strategy. Making your voice heard and offering alternative options is -- let's go!

Y'all remember when the Cowboys only won I think it was 1 game or 2 games with Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones? What happened two years later? Alright then act like you know. Patrick and Degoia are Johnson and Jones of today's college basketball. Well they've already accomplished 1 championship already. They will be winning multiple Big East titles before it is over. Watch and see!

Moderator note: Remember, this is the DePaul game thread. This is for discussion about the upcoming game ONLY. If you want to argue about Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson, take it to the pro & College Sports forum. There are at least 3 threads discussing the current coach and program in general. Take that sh!t there or you will force me to move or delete it. To be clear, I am talking about the gangs on BOTH sides that insist on taking the argument into every other thread. Clear?

Liberty-Freeman is back for DePaul and is their primary offensive threat. DePaul will shoot a lot of 3s, and not especially efficiently. They also have a very short bench. If ever there was a game to not leave 3 point shooters wide open and play the bench more, this is it.
ESPNs Basketball Power Index currently gives Georgetown a 41.3% chance of winning, by far the best opportunity to win one of the remaining games.

This is the one. Book it. We may even open about even on the line. We are 43% to win this game according to KenPom, with a projected score of 76-74 DePaul, so I would expect the line to be DePaul by a point or two. All along, this has been the best chance for our guys to get a win. On KenPom, DePaul's offense and defense are both ranked 116. It's a good matchup in the sense that DePaul shoots threes terribly (ranked 264/358), twos horribly (236/358), and not even good on free throws. They are pretty good on the offensive boards, and do not turn it over a whole lot. Their three point defense isn't all that good, but their two point defense is solid. They also block a lot of shots. It's easily the best matchup for us in the Big East. This is the sort of game where if we get hot from three, and DePaul shoots badly, we will have a nice shot to come away with a win. The remaining games on our schedule are brutal (15% against Connecticut and 8% against both Seton Hall and Xavier), so if we lose this one, thre won't be a ton more realistic chances.

Liberty Freeman is a bad boy. He's dangerous! We have to put Aminu on him and maybe coach should put "the long arms of the law" on him too. I'm talking about Malcolm.
We should play some zone sometimes too to slow Depaul down and to be able to spot their three point shooters ahead of time. Oh yeah and we can't forget the full court pressure occasionally. We don't need to do the full court pressure every damn play though. That's too much and it is going to wear the boys out and we also have a short bench.
We need to play like seven guys and all of them must be guys that can move. If we bring in Mutombo, it's gotta be spot moments when we need offense. Mutombo often times hurts us on defense especially when the other team is shooting threes. Mutombo does a good job of protecting the middle though. However, this Depaul team is a fast and quick team and we need to have guys who are fast and quick to match their fast and quickness.
On offense, Dante needs to keep doing what he has been doing and that is to attack the basket. Look for his mid range jumper. When Dante is scoring, it keeps the pressure off of Carey and Mohammed because guys can't double our "Dynamic Duo" in Carey and Mohammed.
Coach needs to get Rice wide open shots for his threes and that means, somebody gotta set some nice solid screens and picks to get Rice a good look. We gotta keep attacking the basket and that goes for Holloway and Aminu. When Dante penetrates and sucks the defense in, he must pass the ball to the shooters for their wide open threes. He doesn't always have to go all the way in either because sometimes the defense will collaspe as soon as they see he has daylight, when that happens he's got to get the ball to an open Rice or an open Carey immediately.
Carey just got to keep being Carey. He's terrific and should be an all conference candidate this year. Mohammed's gotta keep playing his game, keep attacking, playing solid D and keep on REBOUND!
We should be set!

I’m just glad that our head coach is hard at work going through the gameplan vs. DePaul with our players… all the way from Cleveland…

Dante, 30; Tyler, 10 2. Donald, 30; Tyler 10 3. Aminu, 20; Kaiden 20 4. Collin, 15; Aminu, 10; Jalin 5 5. Tim, 10; Ryan, 10; Malcolm, 10; Collin, 7; Jalin, 3

You hear the applauds both he and AI got from the crowd? Thiers were the second loudest next to Jordan. As far as my coach, he's simply the best! Better than all the rest!
