The entire game last night was a really sloppy affair, by both teams. So many careless turnovers and no attention to the details that allow teams to win games. It was frustrating to watch both teams try to give the game away for most of the second half, but what was extremely frustrating was the lack of execution in the last 3 -4 minutes of the game by Georgetown. At least DePaul knew enough to run a simple set that allows Freeman Liberty to attack the rim and try to create his own shot, which he did a good job of to finish the game.
If the Hoyas could have simply executed offensively on a few possessions in that last 3-4 minutes, they probably win the game. Instead they came down and turned the ball over, with no shot at all for 3 -4 straight possessions. At this point of the season there is no excuse for that. The team should have a few plays that they can depend on running effectively to get a decent shot. They may not have made some of those shots (like all the missed 3's in the final possession) but not getting a shot is really inexcusable. The players and staff just don't seem to put enough emphasis on taking care of the ball and making sure they get a shot. It seems to take them way too long to get into any set once they come over half court and then the shot clock starts running low and they just make numerous poor decisions on passes that turn into turnovers. Just bad basketball.

Five three point attempts in the final 38 seconds, all five misses. Malcolm Wilson was one dunk away from closing this to a single point and perhaps a foul on the play, and yet Ewing settles for the long ball time and time again. (Wilson didn't play for the last seven minutes.)

I think that is the quote of a man who is out of solutions. I don't think Gtown has helped Patrick be successful in his HC experience and the old heads who are part of the Gtown past but are clinging to jobs are a big part of the overall structural failure. Patrick needs to delegate. I don't think it is in his DNA as a great player to be able to delegate. This experiment should be over. Depaul is hot garbage and once again was without one of their top two players and we still lose.

I like animals too much to beat even a dead horse, but just have to say this was a terrible game (exciting though! My wife even stayed until the end —about a half longer than usual!) between two terrible teams. Good friend of mine (really — not me, a friend) and who loves/really knows basketball (son is a local HS coach and played Power 5 hoops) and the Big East texted to say “this is the worst Big East game I’ve ever seen.”

This will be an issue when a team runs plays much more than they run a system, opponents have thoroughly scouted these plays that Coach Ewing is referring to

I dont care who U are, U can't run plays without players. Too many major deficiencies amongst this crew. U can pick any one person on this team and name at least two glaring ones and thats outside of talking bball I.Q. Worse yet, I don't think they are being put in a position to be successful but it has a whole lot to do with their limitations as much as coaching. Its embarrassing how little development has occurred also. What player has actually improved this year? How are there this many non athletes playing D1 bball on the same team. Your starting pf, 2 guard, pg, nor your 5 star sf are in game dunkers in situations where there should be dunks. Watching this team run the most elementary of fast breaks is painful. I actually thought Ewing was a good hire and have come on here is his defense from time to time when I thought he was being judged unfairly(maybe those on NBA circles already knew what we are finding out). I won't hate to see him get another year as I do feel a big east championship/ncaa tourney appearance should carry some weight but his seat should be too hot to sit in next season. And if things don't look promising by conference play, he should be respectfully asked to step down.

It really isn’t a high bar. To have 0 at large bids in 5 years is completely unacceptable.

No win-and-they’re-in games at the end of the season. Aside from a miracle BET title last year, we haven’t even sniffed the NCAA tournament since 2015

Dante, Aminu, Don=12/38. Poor shooters or poor looks in the offense? Harris has proven over almost two full season that he’s a bad shooter at this level. Mo was 6/14, had 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals - not sure how he can be seen as the problem. Aminu is our most talented player.
Don has arguably been out best overall player this season.

The announcers tonight quoted Donald Carey saying that the team was intent on blocking out "outside noise". I wonder what Carey could have been talking about? Don Carey is a good player and seems like a great kid - he represents our university well on the court. It’s too bad he plays for such a horrible coach. Re: “noise” - what does that even mean? Nobody goes to the games, the arena is 80%-90% empty. Does Carey think the Hoyas are losing because of some message board posts? Sounds like an excuse, to me, if you take the announcers words at face value - which I wouldn’t. Don Carey was speaking of the noise re the coaching situation and the team being 0-15, 0-14, etc.
