Dante wasn’t an abject disaster like he was in the prior game. He made better decisions but he still shot the ball terribly yet lead the team in shot attempts. It was a slight improvement but he still has a long way to go Golly gee, aren’t you tough to please! Dante ran the team and shot the ball well. Was he lights out? No, but he was very much in line with the player we saw at the end of last year. I think fans are suffering from the same desire the players are, to right all wrongs with one drive to the basket or deep three. What we saw from Dante was a simple return to good form. Hopefully he keeps it going tonite, and the others can join in. The guys are inching closer and closer to the breakthrough, tonite is as good a night as any! LETS GO HOYAS!!! 6-17 and 0-4 from 3 is shooting well? I think we have different definitions of shooting well then. Dante was better last game. He still wasn’t great. And I say this as a big fan of the young man. I still think there’s a good PG in there somewhere. But he is an absolutely dreadful shooter right now.

I'm gonna try and masquerade as a student and get in tomorrow night! Gonna be a hoot! Would you be masquerading if you went as Ronny Thompson?

Fond memories of McDonough: proud member of the "Animal Section" in 69-70 -the NIT team. Charley Adrian, Artie White and Mike Laughna could play on any Hoya team IMHO, though Artie was a bit of a head case. We did pack that place and it did rock! Edit: Apologies, and thanks for letting this geezer take a trip down memory lane... As geezer to geezer I think you might want to consider the "proud member" comment. We did some horrible, especially sexist stuff back then.

I was the Student Manager of the food service at New South and I made sure the team always got a good dinner even when practice ran late and the dining room closed at 7:00. I never paid for a ticket for my girlfriend (now wife and partner for 50 years) for any of the games at McDonough.

He has to call his own number sometimes. Getting that exactly right is very hard, and even the best struggle with it at times. There are times when Dante is too aggressive, and others when he is too passive, with his own scoring. He makes a lot of effort finding teammates and is not a ball hog. It is not like he has Floyd, Green, Sweetney, and Mourning to receive his passes.

Dante Harris' game would improve if Ewing would simply instruct him not to take long to mid range jumper unless there were less than 4 seconds left on the shot clock. Many times, he tries to drive into the lane, gets stopped by a defender, and pulls back for a quick long-two, which is the worst shot in basketball. According to hoopmath.com: - 35.0% of Harris' shots are two point jump shots, and he makes 31.9% of them. - 30.6% of Harris' shots are threes, and he makes 25.4% of them. - 34.5% of Harris' shots are at the rim, and he makes 52.1% of them. Looking at this stats, I am actually surprised Harris is 52.1% at the rim, because he gets stuffed so frequently. While these numbers are not good, he's scoring: - .62 points per shot on two point jump shots. - .76 points per shot on threes. - 1.04 points per shot on shots at the rim. So basically, he's fairly efficient for 34.5% of his shots, and awful for the remaining 65.5% of this shots. And, to those who don't like the "new" basketball of avoiding long twos. This shows that even as dreadful as Harris has been at taking threes, he's still better off taking threes than long twos.

Yeah I appreciate the efforts of him but there is still much to be learned/coached like the long two makes me cringe even when he makes it as it encourages it further, there are times when it’s necessary but they should not be this frequent especially with him being a poor shooter from range and unless you are one of those players that has a strange ability to make some specific shot at a crazy rate or being just an elite shooter then dont bother with those. Also the thread fell off awhile back but what does everyone think the starting line up should/will be? I hope Ryan and Collin start as St. John’s is too astute defensively to let rice any space starting the game since they know he’s one dimensional

Love to see Crouch and the team getting into some Fan engagement! Not sure if I linked the tweet right. Ewing SHOULD be the one doing this stuff. Getting treated to lunch by Ewing has more mass appeal but I will say Coach Crouch seems like a great guy, gets fan engagement, encourages his players, gets social media, etc. and seems like a great guy to have lunch with even if he isn’t an all time NBA great. Does anyone know when / how long crouch has been on the staff for?

Hope to see a packed house for these guys. It would be great to see Ryan starting but I doubt we will.

The funny thing about this stuff is that Ewing could have a staff member do it, take credit, and everyone would think he was a great guy. I don't understand why Ewing, and JT3 before him, refused to do the easy outreach sort of thing that makes people smile and yet requires minimal or no effort.

I don't know if I've ever felt this way on game day. I feel for the young men going through this. The losing. The national/local/ GU media jumping on. The public critiques from their head coach. All of it is warranted (minus the ewing nonsense) but it's hard to watch the body language and know it's hurting them on a daily basis. I will feel pure joy for the players if they pull this one out. GO HOYAS.

Time to see which is more effective, the Hope Defense or the McD Dome? We need to take advantage of the Johnnies lack of shooting and avoid it ourselves. As much as people hope that McD gives more of a home court advantage, it's not like we practice there. The biggest advantage will be the students being right there, loud, and hyped.

This will be a DVR watch for me, likely, so I'll avoid HoyaTalk after 6 pm. Does anybody know how many tickets were actually given for McDonough? Given COVID, I'd imagine not full capacity.
