If Dante Harris don’t play we don’t have a chance he can finish at the rim and get other players open shots and need his scoring to.this is a up and down season anyway can’t afford no more starters out.if he would played we probably would beat tcu, maybe not saying would but a lot better chance to. Go Hoyas I still hope we can get a big road win, will be tough.

It's been said that "Hope is not a strategy." Still, folks seem to hope that we can pull off a win against PC because they don't have many good shooters, don't shoot the 3 particularly well, and only Reeves is a real threat, so if we cover him effectively, we stand a pretty decent chance. That reasoning seems to depend more on hoping than on having a plan -- or a strategy -- to do what we have been unable to do consistently in our first 11 games, and that is defend against the 3 and prevent teams that don't shoot real well from having breakout games against us. Coach Ewing said it well in the TCU post game interview -- that multiple players need to contribute, and that means good ball movement and getting guys lots of touches. That looks like the beginning of a strategy, and it is up to Coach and staff to make it into a working plan. 2 specific concerns: 1) it may be that teams are starting to figure out Aminu and are keying in on him more effectively; and 2) as was mentioned above, PC has real maturity on its side. Mature teams find ways of winning close games and maybe games on nights when they are struggling. Good ball movement, a tight zone defense, and many fewer turnovers should give us a chance. I hope we have a sound strategy to make it happen. Go Hoyas!!!!! Agree with some of this, don't agree with other parts of it. Mo has gone for 23 and 13 and 21 and 11 in two of his last three games - against Syracuse and TCU respectively - so not seeing the commentary on teams figuring out Aminu and "keying in on him more effectively". Also, we only had 10 turnovers against TCU, way down from the 23 against Howard - so limiting turnovers by itself is not necessarily a key to victory. Fair enough on both points - to fill out the thoughts I had: Aminu has had a bunch of games where he had a slow first half and then ratcheted it up in the second. (Or doesn't - vs. Howard). I like to think he is finding ways to adapt, dig deeper, and perform like a 5-star. (He says he gets mad at himself , pushing himself to do better). It's when he forces play and tries to do too much that he suffers some. His second halves are almost always better than his first. Yes, fewer turnovers alone won't usually lead to victory, but vs. TCU, we cut back on turnovers and then went hot & cold on shooting -- horrible for 4 minutes at a key time -- and never recovered. Gotta limit turnovers AND keep scoring.

It wasn’t a play in game. They were a 9 seed. I stand corrected. The great Ed Cooley has won 1 NCAA Tournament game in 11 years as head coach of the Providence Friars and it was a 9 vs. 8 game. He hasn't made the NCAA Tournament since 2018. Providence is off to a very nice start this year so maybe he'll have some postseason success for the first time in his 16-year head coaching career. Would you trade 2 NCAA appearances in 13 years with zero wins and only 2 BET wins in that time or Cooley's record?

Providence at #22. Our guys have an opportunity to get some momentum, build some confidence, and get the season back on a good path.
The team can't let the moment be too big. Every BE team is beatable and this Georgetown team has the talent and potential to beat anyone in the BE. Hopefully Dante is healthy (I'm guessing it's still too early for Tim). If the team can maintain its discipline (defensive communication and keep tabs on their man so as to not give up easy 3s) and play smart (minimize turnovers and improve shot selection), I think they'll find they'll be right there with a top 25 team.
Adding: as of today there are 4 BE teams in the top 25. The opportunities are there for quality wins in the conference. Hope the team can take advantage.

I find it very hard to believe that Dante is going to go from a walking boot to game ready in a few days. I hope I'm wrong but, apparently, it's been a lingering injury that seemingly has deteriorated.

Hoping for an emotional let down for PC, but it’s also their home opener. Let’s hope Reeves cools off, as other than him their shooters are average. Watson is going to be tough to guard though. Really miss Tim here. When is the last time we were 1-0 in the BE? Feels like it must be 6 years ago at this point. 2019 Really didn’t remember that. Oops

Although to be honest a 10 day Covid pause would be ideal right now

I'd be very happy to be wrong because, as low as some people's expectations are, without Dante, we're effed. Tyler isn't ready to fill that hole.

Reminds me of playing an injured McClung. Playing a hobbled Dante is not going to be good for the big picture.

This is gonna be a tough game. The first of many over the next 3 months.
I like several of our individual pieces. Let’s see how it comes together.
A good part of me is expecting ~5 wins in conference.

I would rather lose Harris completely for a few weeks than continually have him play injured and going in/out. If he needs longer to recover, so be it. I want to win, but I also don't think we can win easily with a 50% Harris.

If the virus spreads as much as it seems to be doing, we are going to be left with a January where there are constant forfeits throughout the league. I guess it's better than not playing at all, but it's going to create weird outcomes in March.
What happens if both teams cannot field a team because of COVID? Doesn't it create a weird incentive to be the last to report COVID problems?

And the hits keep coming… the program couldn’t stay healthy… maybe there’s a silver lining like last year starting with everyone, including Clark, back from injury when we resume play.

Interesting that Goodman is the first to report it.
