Does anyone know the contractual status? If it was for 6 years would the school bring him back as a lame duck? These things tend to escalate quickly. Look at Esh and JTIII. If we go 7-24 this year in front of empty arenas I would think the administration wouldn’t be able to ignore it and they could stomach eating the last year. Unfortunately barring a miracle, the empty arena is a given. It’s a shame because i would go if I lived in the DMV, but I cannot blame those who do not want to incur the time and expense.

This thread is the 2021 version of Van’s 2004 “Esherick and his family” post. Fortunately, Beantown didn’t ask the moderators to ban him. Those are starting to look like the good old days

I'll be there for UMBC. Why? It"s just what I do. I predict less attendance than Longwood.

Buckle up for an empty Cap One vs UMBC and then more Syracuse fans than Hoya fans for our “home” game. Will you be there, or just taking shots from afar?

Do you have an extra $2,000 for me to go from afar? Let me know so I can make my reservations. If you don’t mind throwing your money away, then I promise I’ll cheer loudly.

I'll be there, and traveling from afar <on my own dime> to do so.

I can’t wait for the long list of Big East coaches praising the job Ewing is doing. These guys must love what’s happening here.

I loved Ewing as a player with the Hoyas and Knicks. My fear was that one day the difficult decision to move away from Ewing the coach would arrive. I want him to succeed, but with each passing year I’m losing confidence. A great player doesn’t necessarily make a great coach. Hoping that the team can improve and salvage the season.

Too many guilty pleasures! I would drive too if I could. Have fun visiting with your daughter.

I want Patrick to succeed as much as anybody, but if this keeps up and they play the season in a sea of empty chairs, it wouldn't shock me if Pat pulls a Turgeon and decides he's had enough.

I remember when we neared the end of the JT3 era….it was almost as if fans became indifferent as to whether we won or lost. If we won, great….we got to celebrate. If we lost, that was fine too because we were one step closer to change.
It starting to feel eerily similar.

Despite this I will continue to watch every game and attend those I am able to when they are playing close to me. Sadly, the same depressed feeling I had at the end of the JT3 era is setting in. It is the same but different. Then it was how do we fire the son of JT2, the guy who restored the program and took us to a Final Four. Now....how do we fire the most recognizable player in program history? Neither is good and makes the decision all the tougher. This is why we need to start focusing on this as a business.

“Mutually agree to part ways” is probably how the administration will eventually try to spin it. It’s sad because he’s a legend and so likable and truly cares about his players, but he’s just not building a program and he’s been here long enough for the patience to be over.

This season doesn’t matter anymore and we all know it’s a terrible team. I hope we can hit the transfer portal hard and build a better roster for next year to play ahead of the young guys that probably still won’t be ready to start on a mid conference team.

We are having a small class reunion at a local establishment after the game since our reunion was eaten by the pandemic. I'd love to see you drive all the way from PR. Might make a nice podcast ;-)

I drove from OKC to Cali to watch "MY HOYAS" good or bad and I know I spent more than $2K but I hold the course.

Amen to the_way. Some want it all ways. Play the freshmen, develop the talent, find the combos that gel and play well cultivate team chemistry, etc. AND win now and look amazing doing it. (apologies to the_way for perhaps bad selective paraphrasing)
What are the 1st 10 games for? For some teams they are a tune up of known parts and role players. For us, they are for taking a team with mostly talented players who were in high school 7 months ago who have never played high level ball together and finding out what works hopefully in time to face tougher conference foes.
I will be watching every game and going to as many as I can even if we end up losing because they are getting better & chances are getting better that we will see Riley feed Billingsly for an ally oop, Aminu might finish with a mighty jam in traffic, Kaiden will go off for 20+, Dante will unleash some serious Hoya grit on some backcourt in the BE, Carey will put together a solid all around game, Holloway will grind & wind his way to 20+, & Ryan will find his feet and timing and start in on daddy's records. Why would you want to give up on these guys?
Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!
