Listening to ND announcers was annoying initially. It’s becoming more and more enjoyable. 10-2

Up 14-1 at the half over MSM; somewhat embarrassing, actually. Bench clearing underway.

Ran into a goalie who matched ours. PU was quick and all over our hands. We turned it over 22 times to their 13. Hate to say it; they're good. Probably outplayed us by a greater margin than the score differential.

Seems like the level of parity/Any Given (insert day of the week here) is increasing. Utah, which I found myself slightly mystified by on the Hoyas' schedule, just pushed around #11-ranked and previously 5-1 Duke-slayer Jacksonville 16-10 down in Jax. That's the Utes' second win against a ranked team this season, after going 0-6 previously in the history of the new-ish program.

I think that is a function of the sports increasing popularity in high school. More and more kids playing, especially outside of the traditional hotbeds of LI, Phila, Maryland. Many of them are very good and there are a finite number of spots at the Ivies and traditional lax powers. Then there are the COVID rules that have allowed multiple 5th and 6th year players...

They have players on their roster who have a Utah hometown listed, which is about 4 more than I would've thought.

Hoyas get back in the win column with a 15-10 win at bomb cyclone-blown Richmond. The Spiders have been tough out this year, so it's not a bad result at all,. especially given the conditions.
Having said that, the LaxPower cognoscenti have been pointing out that the offense as currently constituted lacks some of the dimensions you'd typically need to make a run to the Final Four. Some of this is attributed to Haley still rounding into form, and the defense is typically strong enough that they can compensate, but Princeton showed how a top tier team can capitalize on this.
Still, the resume built thus far is extremely solid, and with the Big East once again looking like a two-horse race with Denver, the next two months are going to be all about building up to peak at the right time - tournament time.

Hoyas up on Utes early 3-0. No sound on FloSports, of course.

Scharfenberger not McElroy starting in goal for Hoyas for some reason.

McElroy not playing today in Denver. Scharfenberger the freshman making his 2nd start. Nothing in the GameNotes.

McElroy not playing today in Denver. Scharfenberger the freshman making his 2nd start. Nothing in the GameNotes. Someone on LaxPower indicated it was "illness" and that he'd be back after this weekend. So I'm guessing Covid. No matter - Scharfenberger played well again, and the defense in front of him was mostly top notch. Coupled with Richmond's upset of UVA - man, that win down on the Spiders' turf in the blizzard now looks even better, doesn't it? - the Hoyas look destined for the #2 ranking next week. Nova has looked feisty and the Hoyas have to go up to the Main Line for the regular season finale, but the elusive Big East regular season crown appears to finally be well within reach. Fans get to look ahead in a way that the team doesn't... I'm really excited about the prospect of hosting NCAA tourney games.
