Going to be a bumpy season. Better shooting please.

Moving back to the thread topic, I’d like a repeat of the last meeting of these 2 teams, a Hoya win at the Palestra led by Jeff Bullis, Craig Shelton and John Duren at the Palestra in 1980.

With that trio it’s a lock.

As a team with little margin for error even against relatively poor teams, the Hoyas have got to improve their FT shooting above the 66% range. Aminu could add 3-4 points per game just by improving his shot.

As my daughter is now a freshman on Hawk Hill, a win would be much appreciated.

Reggie Cameron is their video coordinator. Would like to see more Mutombo/Holloway as a small ball 5 instead of Wilson minutes. And finding a way to get Beard more than 4 minutes.

I'd like to see more offensive rebounds and made shots.

Will Ewing ever field a good team here?

Will Ewing ever field a good team here? I guess it depends on what you mean by good. If you are talking about the traditional standard of GU basketball, there is very little chance he’ll have a good team. But, if finishing a bit over .500 and the middle of the Big East is good (which seems like all anyone can hope for with this coach), then yes every now and then it may happpen.

Will Ewing ever field a good team here? The paradox of the Ewing era is that, personalities aside, Georgetown has a 15 year NBA assistant who is still coaching like it's the NBA, not the college game. The NBA game is less a strategy game and more a means of simply outrunning your opponent. Rookies do not learn in games, but practices. You go with the veterans. Player turnover is part of the game. And so, instead of developing Dante Harris into a player that can adjust his game to opponents, he's a zero-to sixty player who is going to hit a wall against Big East defenses. Instead of getting 20 minutes out of the future (Riley, Billingsley, Holloway, maybe Beard and Clark), it's all-in with Carey and Rice. You can certainly out run-and gun a St. Joe's and a Longwood. Patient teams can and will adjust. By contrast, Georgetown is not a patient team.

I think we all know that this is going to be a long and, results-wise, unsuccessful season. I am not sure why we need to watch so much Don Carey and Kaiden Rice, who will be gone next year. We got smoked again last night by a pedestrian SDSU team. We could have lost just as badly or perhaps even worse by playing the kids, but at least they would be gaining experience. Sadly, Ewing appears to be coaching this season like a man in fear of his job, which in this case just perpetuates the vicious cycle of program regression.

Anyone going to the game tonight?
I find myself in the greater LA metroplex for thanksgiving and for some crazy reason I’m considering driving 2 hours each way to go to the game tonight. Neither my wife nor daughter consider this an appealing proposition so I’d be heading solo.
Anyone know where Hoya fans are sitting? Any pregame event or watering hole where fellow Hoyas are gathering?
Thanks!

Lucky we have another game right away to forget about the end of last night. Regroup, get some rest, have some redbull on hand for the second half.
This team will grow, last night was more down then up. Tonight should be more up then down but hopefully it's because of improvement and not overmatched opponents.

I was at that 37-36 upset loss in McDonough playing in the pep band. St. Joe's was coached by Jim Lynam, who had coached at AU, and later in the NBA for the 76ers and Bullets. St. Joe's had nearly upset the Terps with its 4-corners offense that season. McD was pretty silent, and I yelled at Lynam, "Hey coach, this is better than Sominex!" Lynam turned around and burst out laughing. Good times (except for the loss)! There will be no upset tonight. HOYA SAXA!
