This is simply a place holder for things and posts to come. I'm just waiting for game times to be posted for several contests, but the initial "heavy lifting" is complete. I expect to be able to post the initial Games of Interest in this thread before the end of this week.
Games of Interest will, as in prior seasons, detail schedules for all Big East Conference teams, this season's Georgetown Out-of-Conference opponents, and the Associated Press Top 25. There will also be a complete listing of all tournaments scheduled for the individual weeks for all teams. The schedule (inclusive of television schedules), for the period Monday through the following Monday, will be posted every Monday after the AP Top 25 has been released, and results will be updated as time permits.
"Patience, grasshopper."

It is time.
Now that the pre-season Associated Press Top 25 has been released, and all but one tipoff time (Gardner-Webb at #16 Arkansas on November 13) have been scheduled, I am posting the first Games of Interest thread for the 2021-2022 college basketball season. As before, each week’s Games of Interest will be posted sometime on each Monday; the next posting will be on Monday, November 15. Each post will contain the schedules for Big East Conference teams, for Georgetown’s out-of-conference opponents, and for the most recent AP Top 25, for the period Monday through the following Monday.
For Big East teams, home games will usually be played at the following locations: Butler (Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indianapolis IN), Connecticut (Gampel Pavilion, Storrs CT), Creighton (CHI Health Center Omaha, Omaha NE), DePaul (Wintrust Arena, Chicago IL), Georgetown (Capital One Arena, Washington DC), Marquette (Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee WI), Providence (Dunkin’ Donuts Center, Providence RI), St. John’s (Carnesecca Arena, Queens NY), Seton Hall (Prudential Center, Newark NJ), Xavier (Cintas Center, Cincinnati OH) and Villanova (Finneran Pavilion, Villanova PA). When home games are being played in other locations, that location will be listed.
Last minute modifications and cancellations may occur, as college basketball still attempts to play through COVID-19 impacts, and I will attempt to update this weekly missive whenever I learn of schedule changes; no warranties of accuracy, express or implied, are made.
There are only two Big East Conference teams in the Associated Press Top 25 as the season begins…Villanova at #4, and Connecticut at #24. Xavier and St. John’s also received votes in the first poll of the basketball year.
All times listed are Eastern Standard Time.
EDIT AT 8:32 PM ON NOVEMBER 3 TO INCLUDE SCHEDULED START TIME FOR GARDNER-WEBB AT ARKANSAS GAME ON NOVEMBER 13.
SUBSEQUENT EDITS AT 9:29 AM ON NOVEMBER 10, AT 8:15 AM ON NOVEMBER 11, AT 10:24 AM NOVEMBER 12, AT 9:43 AM AND 10:58 PM ON NOVEMBER 13, AT 7:02 AM ON NOVEMBER 14, AND A FINAL EDIT AT 9:42 AM ON NOVEMBER 15 TO INCLUDE GAME RESULTS.

Hard to believe college basketball with actual fans is back after a year and a half. I know the sport takes whatever timeslots the networks dictate, but it's a bit mind-boggling to see #2 UCLA vs. #4 Villanova buried at 11:30pm eastern on a Friday night on ESPN2. Why bother to schedule a game like that if you don't want people to watch?

ESPN2's schedule that evening: Cincinnati at South Florida (college football) at 6:00 pm, followed by United States vs. Mexico men's soccer match in Cincinnati OH at 9:00 pm. We on the East Coast tend to forget that there are an awful lot of eyeballs not on Eastern Standard Time (when that game is played).

Sure, but there are other nights of the week, and the non-conference portion of the season last about two months. For example, on Thursday (the night before), ESPN2 is showing the G League and UFC Fight Night Flashbacks. These are two top five teams (for now). That doesn't happen very often. If Villanova is going to fly all the way out there, they can't do better than 11:30 eastern on a Friday night? Seems like malpractice in terms of selling your sport.

Question for the board, and I'm sorry if this isn't the place to ask but I didn't see this fitting into any other thread (happy to delete or move): I completed the form requesting tickets for the Dartmouth game and have yet to be contacted. Just wondering if I've fallen through the cracks or if they have yet to give anyone a response. Has anyone else heard anything about the tickets offered for the opener?

I did read that something would be sent early November though.

If you are a season ticket holder, you might want to log in to your My Hoyas account and click on "Manage Tickets". The tickets you requested for Dartmouth may already be there. I never got a response as to whether I got tickets for that game either, but I checked, and the tickets were there. Also, it is a bit of a hassle to get tickets on your phone this year since it doesn't look like the Georgetown Gameday app is working properly anymore. The ticket office told me to go to wearegeorgetown.com/myhoyas through the internet on my phone, log in, then go to "Manage Tickets" again, and click on each individual game, then save them to your phone through Apple Wallet or something similar. It's not ideal, but I think it's the only way to do it right now.

This is a minor note, but it appears students don’t have to opt in to the games. (Makes a lot of sense because the section is GA anyway)

Not really a game of interest but there are 2 games that started the NCAAM off at 3 today and one was streaming on ESPN so I put it on will I work. Manhattan is playing Manhattanville and I never knew that a team could consider a game an exhibition while the other it is a game that counts. Maybe that is only because it is outside D-1 but the game counts for Manhattan but is an exhibition for D-3 Manhattanville.

Basketball is back...here is a summary for last night...
BIG EAST: On paper it looks good as the BE went 8-0. That being said beyond Nova, UConn and St Johns all the other games (despite the final score) were grinds. Creighton was down 9 at half before a huge 2nd half run to pull away. Providence and Xavier were close most of the 2nd half. None of those 5 other games were high level opponents. Justin Moore (Nova) had 27pts and 7Ast. Sanogo (Uconn) had 20pts and 5reb. Scruggs (Xavier) 17pts, 6ast and 5reb. O'Connell for Creighton and Morsell (former MD guard) now at Marquette also had big games.
DARTMOUTH: Lost to Boston College by 16, never really a close game they were down 23 at half. Brendan Barry who was discussed a lot here is actually back at Dartmouth which I didn't realize (He spent his first 3 at Dartmouth, played a year at Temple and now is back - I guess a good reason why you never burn bridges). He was awful from 3 (2-11) but will be their main threat and clearly has the green light to shoot.
WAHAB: Sorry someone has to mention it...good game versus an awful opponent (Quinnipiac). Started, had 17 points on 7-10 shooting, 6REB 2BLK in 17 minutes...and 2AST (WTF?!?!). That may match his total for last season.
LEBLANC: Now at UAB...8pts (3 for 3 shooting) 7REB and 2BLK. Did not start and played 23 minutes.
SIBLEY: Now at UTEP...6pts (3 for 3 shooting as well) 5REB in 19 minutes. Also did not start.
CUSE: They won, Boeheim's combined for 36 points enough said...
OTHERS:
- Ohio St (17 pt favorites) needed last second shot to beat Akron - George Mason, GW and Howard all won - Ricky Lindo now with GW had 17pts, 9REB and 6BLK, that should be great situation for him - Kansas beat Mich St and Duke beat Kentucky in the only match up of ranked teams - Virgina lost to Navy, Navy's first top 25 win since the Admiral was there - oops - Pitt lost to Citadel, oops - Gtech lost to Miami Oh, oops - as mentioned above by hoya95 not a great night for ACC - Chris Lykes had 16 in his Arkansas debut - Remember the much discussed Brandon Murray? Had 7 in his debut for LSU, Efton Reid had 16 and 6REB in his LSU debut. - Nebraska (17 point favs) lost to Western Ill - Patrick Baldwin had 21 and 10 in his first game at Milw, they won - Chet Homlgren is a walking double double. 14 points (on only 6 shots) 13REB, 6AST and 7BLKs. STUD. Did have 7 TO's but who cares... - Texas Tech is 1-0 without McClung - Old friend Antwan Walker 0pts, 5REB and 5 fouls in 19 minutes in a URI win
Plenty of others I could have mentioned but I don't have all morning...
***I will say this and hope everyone keeps in mind. No matter who you are for the most part these first few games for any team is not a breeze. Ton of teams struggled tonight, could have been double that # of upsets last night easily. Again keep in mind for Saturday for Gtown. A struggle but a win against lesser opponents would not be out of the ordinary in the least for 80% of the teams these first few weeks***
