Basketball is back...here is a summary for last night... WAHAB:Sorry someone has to mention it...good game versus an awful opponent (Quinnipiac). Started, had 17 points on 7-10 shooting, 6REB 2BLK in 17 minutes...and 2AST (WTF?!?!). That may match his total for last season. Was efficient but won't be happy if Turgdeon limits him minutes and his touches/field goal attempts like in this game. We shall see since you can't really tell much by the OCC games.

Basketball is back...here is a summary for last night... BIG EAST:On paper it looks good as the BE went 8-0. That being said beyond Nova, UConn and St Johns all the other games (despite the final score) were grinds. Creighton was down 9 at half before a huge 2nd half run to pull away. Providence and Xavier were close most of the 2nd half. None of those 5 other games were high level opponents. Justin Moore (Nova) had 27pts and 7Ast. Sanogo (Uconn) had 20pts and 5reb. Scruggs (Xavier) 17pts, 6ast and 5reb. O'Connell for Creighton and Morsell (former MD guard) now at Marquette also had big games. DARTMOUTH:Lost to Boston College by 16, never really a close game they were down 23 at half. Brendan Barry who was discussed a lot here is actually back at Dartmouth which I didn't realize (He spent his first 3 at Dartmouth, played a year at Temple and now is back - I guess a good reason why you never burn bridges). He was awful from 3 (2-11) but will be their main threat and clearly has the green light to shoot. WAHAB:Sorry someone has to mention it...good game versus an awful opponent (Quinnipiac). Started, had 17 points on 7-10 shooting, 6REB 2BLK in 17 minutes...and 2AST (WTF?!?!). That may match his total for last season. LEBLANC:Now at UAB...8pts (3 for 3 shooting) 7REB and 2BLK. Did not start and played 23 minutes. SIBLEY:Now at UTEP...6pts (3 for 3 shooting as well) 5REB in 19 minutes. Also did not start. CUSE:They won, Boeheim's combined for 36 points enough said... OTHERS:- Ohio St (17 pt favorites) needed last second shot to beat Akron - George Mason, GW and Howard all won - Ricky Lindo now with GW had 17pts, 9REB and 6BLK, that should be great situation for him - Kansas beat Mich St and Duke beat Kentucky in the only match up of ranked teams - Virgina lost to Navy, Navy's first top 25 win since the Admiral was there - oops - Pitt lost to Citadel, oops - Gtech lost to Miami Oh, oops - as mentioned above by hoya95 not a great night for ACC - Chris Lykes had 16 in his Arkansas debut - Remember the much discussed Brandon Murray? Had 7 in his debut for LSU, Efton Reid had 16 and 6REB in his LSU debut. - Nebraska (17 point favs) lost to Western Ill - Patrick Baldwin had 21 and 10 in his first game at Milw, they won - Chet Homlgren is a walking double double. 14 points (on only 6 shots) 13REB, 6AST and 7BLKs. STUD. Did have 7 TO's but who cares... - Texas Tech is 1-0 without McClung - Old friend Antwan Walker 0pts, 5REB and 5 fouls in 19 minutes in a URI win Plenty of others I could have mentioned but I don't have all morning... ***I will say this and hope everyone keeps in mind. No matter who you are for the most part these first few games for any team is not a breeze. Ton of teams struggled tonight, could have been double that # of upsets last night easily. Again keep in mind for Saturday for Gtown. A struggle but a win against lesser opponents would not be out of the ordinary in the least for 80% of the teams these first few weeks*** Well done summarizing all the of interest story lines.

I can already see the difference with Qudus. Maryland lists him as a forward vs. a center. HUGE change.

Great summary!! One more note of interest on San Diego (which is USD and is different from UCSD, and SDSU), is that in addition to TJ Berger they have Yavuz Gultekin. If you recall we were interested in him (Turkish, local high school, not sure he had commitable offer) and he chose to commit to Va tech, followed Buzz to Texas A-M and now has transferred to USD. He went for 12 points, 11 rebs, 4 assists and 2 steals in 20 minutes, albeit against non-D1 competition. I’ll be interested to see how TJ and Yeezy do at USD.

USD has been so disappointing for so long, they might as well try the Eric Musselman "Everyone is a transfer" method. At least they have a great little gym and an incredible campus! And UCSD beating down Cal at Haas is frankly hilarious.

How bad is DePaul. Coppin State almost scored as many points at half as they did the entire game against Loyola last night. Hopefully they are better when they get their 3 other players eligible.

Chris Sodom 18 min 9 reb 3 blocks 4 turnovers vs Cairn Univeristy Cairn? had to look that one up. Formerly Philadelphia Bible College, it's a D-III school with 900 students. The champion of playing the guarantee game business is Carver College (fka Carver Bible College), a school of between 36 and 60 students (depending on the source) in Atlanta. Carver finished 0-21 last season. "As of publication, Mid-Major Madness has acquired four game contracts for Carver’s contests against Division I opponents: Kennesaw State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and Appalachian State. For each of those, Carver received a guarantee between $2,000 and $2,600. Every school also provided the team with a postgame pizza meal. The Carver basketball program does not get any funding from the school and needs to raise money entirely on its own. The school doesn’t even supply COVID-19 tests for its players. Instead, players use their own insurance at a facility near campus." www.midmajormadness.com/2021/1/11/22223792/carver-college-cougars-nccaa-basketball-bryan-spencer-glenn-simsIts early 2021-22 schedule is as follows: 9 Nov at Troy (Troy won, 104-42) 12 Nov at Nicholls State 13 Nov at Nicholls State (they are playing them twice) 15 Nov at Kennesaw State 18 Nov at The Citadel 20 Nov at Gardner-Webb 22 Nov at McNeese State 24 Nov at Tennessee - Martin 3 Dec at North Carolina A&T 5 Dec at North Alabama 8 Dec at Georgia Southern 9 Dec at North Carolina Central 11 Dec at Winthrop 15 Dec at Presbyterian 16 Dec at South Carolina State 28 Dec at Jacksonville State 29 Dec at Jacksonville University 31 Dec at Liberty

Thank you for bringing up Chris Sodom's information. I always wanted to know how he was doing. I knew he was bouncing around, hopefully he found his home at Delaware State. He also had 7 points. Wishing him the best.

Jalen Terry who is waiting on eligibility came over from Oregon. 4 star top 100 (57 on both Rivals and 247) and Ahamad Bynum who is a 4 star freshman Top 100 (73 by 247 and ESPN and 96 on Rivals). Not sure if he is hurt or what his deal is. I'm not sure the third and I don't see anyone else listed on their roster but they did say yesterday and it was a weird situation where he isn't eligible until second semester or something like that. I'm assuming the broadcasters were correct.

Got it, thanks for the information... DePaul had a much better 2nd half but they're on for a long year

Galen Alexander & Grayson Carter are together on Texas Southern's roster this year, but neither played this week against Oregon.
Alexander was a big contributor last year for them and was expected to be again -- so maybe an injury or suspension there. Haven't seen anything on that.
Carter still seems to be trying to find a fit somewhere, after some not-so-productive minutes last year at UT-Arlington. A DNP-CD wouldn't be great in a game where the squad played 11 guys.

Game Summary 11.10...and Kudos to Professor, never would have thought to find Sodom!
BIG EAST: - Two more wins versus two more awful opponents. Nonetheless the BE as a whole remains undefeated. - Seton Hall rolled Fair. Dickinson by 40+. Samuel had 19 and 11. 5 guys in double figures and no Rhoden. They are going to be trouble. I really see it as Nova, Uconn, Seton Hall and everyone else this year in the BE. The additions of Jamir Harris (American), Yetna (S Fla) and Richmond (Cuse) gives them a ton of depth. Actually surprised they are not a preseason/current Top 25. - DePaul won by 25 but was only up 1 at half against Coppin St. I didn't see any of the game but I know there was a mention in this thread that they looked terrible the 1st half. Freeman-Liberty had a huge game 25, 10REB and 8 AST. Also David Jones had 23 and 17 and who honestly I thought was a freshman because I don't remember him at all from last year.
FUTURE OPPONENT: - Howard moved to 2-0 last night beating up on lowly Regent.
TOP 25: - No upsets - Michigan won by 12. As someone mentioned old friend Terrance Williams had a nice game. 15 and 7 and played 30 minutes. Looks likely to be their 6th man this year. Also often discussed Frankie Collins made his Michigan debut but only saw 7 minutes...0pts, 3REB and an assist.
OTHER: - Much quieter night than last night. - No real upsets across the board.
TONIGHT: - I will try to find a game or 2 to focus on. - I think for this audience the MD vs GW game gets the most attention. Ricky Lindo Jr gets a shot at some revenge after playing sparingly for 2 years at MD. Rooting for him and the Colonials. Wahab of course on the other side - game is on the BTN. - One BE game tonight. Providence at home against Sacred Heart. Friars favored by 15.
