Is having an official visit now. Just seems like a waste of a official visit that we could use on somebody else if he’s just gonna end up at Michigan with his dad…

I thought limits on official visits applied to the player, who can make up to 5 to D I schools. Are there also limitations on how many official visits a school can host? If not, I don't understand the point of your comment.

Yes there are limits on how many official visit to school can host, but it’s a pretty high number like 29 in a two year cycle or something like that

Just another silly situation where the people on this board think they know better than the staff. Or at least - don't think the staff understands something exceedingly obvious.
In this case - a kid who's "obviously" not coming here is being wooed by a staff who - not only doesn't know that, but doesn't consider all the wasted time/money/resources that could directly lead to signing someone else everyone in the fanbase would love.
This isn't an "our staff can do no wrong" post, but-- just how useless do you think they are?

We're nowhere close to the number of OV's a school can give in a year. We're at 2 this cycle counting Howard.

I’m way less concerned about the OV count as I am about the waste of department resources. Maybe staff knows something we don’t but these visits aren’t cheap.

Maybe Pat knows something about sons that decide (initially, at least) to not follow in their famous father’s footsteps. Yes, I know, Daddy Howard would be his coach, so slightly different. But that doesn’t mean he can’t have any thoughts about playing elsewhere that are apparently unfathomable to this all-knowing board.

Fwiw some of the big time guys have said Jett is open to playing for someone other than his pops. That being said family usually wins out in these situations, but why do you guys look at this situation differently than Patrick Baldwin Jr?

Why do you guys look at this situation differently than Patrick Baldwin Jr? Because we don’t believe we can have nice things.

Milwaukee… not so much. It’s one thing to play for your dad at a low-major versus one of the most attractive sports schools in the country.

And with his brother: mgoblue.com/sports/mens-basketball/rosterPatrick Baldwin also was “open” to playing for another program other than Milwaukee… yeah, that’s the ticket…

History tells us more often than not these kids end up playing for their family members. Especially when you’re talking about a kid like Baldwin who’s only going to be in college for a year.

Hell, Ryan couldn't even say no to "Uncle" Pat but we expect Jett to say no to his dad. 😁

UW Milwaukee and Michigan don’t compare. Plus Baldwin and Howard don’t compare either. Baldwin is one and done, Howard probably won’t even start his freshman yr.

I understand what you guys are saying but there's a pretty solid list of HM prospects that spurned HM schools to play for relatives who coached at LM and MM schools. Ray McCallum (Detroit Mercy), RJ Hunter (Georgia St), Trey Ziegler (Central Michigan), and even Doug McDermott fits the bill since Creighton was in the Missouri Valley when he committed there. Imo the family ties usually Trump the status of the school or program. That's why you see teams hiring family members to staff to land kids all the time and then letting them go as soon as the kid moves on.

Just off the top of my head Ray McCallum (Detroit Mercy), RJ Hunter (Georgia St), Trey Ziegler (Central Michigan), and even Doug McDermott fits the bill since Creighton was in the Missouri Valley when he committed there. Imo history shows us the status of the school or player are secondary to family ties. That's why you see teams hiring family members to staff to land kids all the time and then letting them go as soon as the kid moves on. not just a relative, they went to play for their Dad. A unbreakable bond.
