Fwiw, no mention of the Gtown visit… michigan.rivals.com/news/michigan-wolverines-basketball-recruiting-jett-howard-sets-decision-dateAnd she (Jenine Howard) has been as instrumental in his development as anyone. She was traveling with her sons when her husband was still in the NBA, and she’s been helping Jett with the recruiting process. She was with him on the trip to Tennessee, and she was as impressed as her son. “She loves coach [Rick] Barnes,’” Howard said. “They did a great job showing their vision for me … how they would use me in the offense. They really let me know how I’d fit there.” He got the red carpet treatment at N.C. State the week before, too. But Tennessee might be the biggest threat to pull the major upset in this recruitment, thanks in large part to the head coach. “My dad will roll his eyes when we talk about it and joke that coach Barnes is my mom’s new boyfriend,” Howard added with a laugh.

Patrick’s own son picked Indiana. We have a shot. Patrick wasn’t the coach. JTIII had a stellar playing career at . . . Princeton. I think Michigan had to be the odds-on favorite here, but I don’t think we should be dismissing our chances out of hand.

I think Michigan had to be the odds-on favorite here, but I don’t think we should be dismissing our chances out of hand. Agreed. I don't know what the stats are on it, but i'd wildly guess that 75% of son D1 players end up playing for dad D1 coaches when the opportunity presents itself. Completely anecdotal (zero statistical basis), but i'd venture to guess that the percentage decreases when there's a really healthy father-son relationship (not that there's anything wrong at all with sons wanting to play for their dads and dads wanting to coach their sons).
I'd guess 75% Michigan. If not, I'd guess we're 50% likelihood of that remaining 25%. So 1/8. Unlikely. But i'll tune in.

Uhhh Ohhhh. This doesn't look good for Uncle Pat. Teenagers always react positively to Mom or dad telling them what to do!🙄

While many so-called pundits and Michigan fans are predicting Jett will join Juwan, there are a few signs that Jett Howard is taking the recruiting process very seriously. Jett relayed that his father tells him. “I don’t want you to look back in 30 years and have regrets … feel like I pushed you into doing something you didn’t want to do,” and that he knows “he wants me to be happy.”
Juwan Howard and Ewing have not necessarily appeared close over the years—except geographically when Howard follows Ewing on the recruiting trail like a puppy dog—but the Howard family loves Ewing and some since-deleted comments by Jett’s mother indicate Georgetown is a “serious contender.”
Juwan Howard’s years as a Wizard did not overlap with Ewing’s as an assistant coach in DC, but perhaps a mutual friendship with Michael Jordan and participation in the legendary Space Jam pick-up games brought them together.
Like the Cole Anthony recruitment, maybe Jett Howard isn’t someone for Hoyas fans to get their hopes too high for, but maybe there’s a chance. Also, it will be interesting to see which other recruits Ewing and the staff continue to target in 2022 after the announcement.

I mean worse case for him if he picks a school he doesn’t like: just transfer to dad’s as a fall back. I’m not high on this at all but certainly a better shot that with other coach’s sons in past years considering the new dynamic

Regardless of how it works out, I really admire how Juwan is, apparently, counseling his son on his future.

Safe bet but do you have anything other than a baseless opinion that you're going on?

Just being a realist. Sometimes I get the optimism but this is just setting yourself up for a letdown.
