Does anyone think that Denver has played enough minutes to show what he can do on a regular basis?
Does anyone really think that PE's evaluation of Denver in practice is the best or only way to make decisions about playing time?
The kid is a shooter, and as some have pointed out, shooters need to shoot. They need to have regular minutes in real life games. They need to know when they'll play and get into something resembling a rhythm, day-to-day, week-to-week. The way he has been handled may be the way that a hard-nosed 80's Hoya center saw it done (with freshmen rarely getting regular playing time), and you might agree that that's the hard knocks way to do it and they aren't handing out spots on NBA rosters for being good in high school, etc., etc. Whatever. It's not fair to the kid given our record and the excessive minutes played by Spears and Murray. It's not at all an accurate way to judge him. And it certainly is no way to develop a player.
I'll be surprised he stays. It will take an incoming HC with vision and persuasion to keep him and a couple of others here next year. Fingers crosed.

I really think that the OOC is when PE is supposed to get kids a lot of PT to introduce them to college bball. Unfortunately PE is so bad at coaching that we never have comfortable enough leads to get young guys any PT. So it becomes a never-ending cycle of kids not getting prepared and losing patience because they aren't getting PT and the people playing ahead of them aren't playing winning bball. It's hard riding the bench on a losing team. It's even harder when the guys ahead of you are constantly making boneheaded decisions.

I see a young kid pressing to make a positive play. There's nothing remotely close to a "regular" rotation, that would allow him to let the game come to him? Some games he gets a little playing time, only to rarely see the court in the second half. With this team's success, why not get the Freshmen playing time? I tell you what it looks like. It looks like a bad coach, trying to win at all cost! But he's not winning and now the coach looks even worse. So, while he hasn't set the world on fire. He does seem to have a good basketball IQ (entry passes, help defense). More playing time and an offensive identity will go a long way in his development. A better coach will get the production out of him that Patrick couldn't! Hopefully, that's going to be at Georgetown!

Anglin has not been good in his rare appearances, but he has to know he will only play a minute or two and this is clearly not putting him in any kind of position to succeed.
Obviously, when a 2-17 team gets down 19-0 and loses by 40, Anglin should get extended burn. That he never got in at all is coaching malpractice.
I am not optimistic, but I hope Anglin is back next year under a competent coach.

Good luck, Denver. My condolences that you were forced to play for this selfish and shameless disgrace of a coach that hindered your development. Hopefully you enjoyed the rest of your time on the hilltop. Would love to see you wind up at an another big east program with a real coach like Shaheen Holloway.

Here we go! Come on JD & Lee Reed. I think it was Ferris Bueller who once said, life comes at you fast, if you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.
Let's get cracking boys. I assume every player with eligible years left will be in the portal. Still time if we clean out the TAC (Ronny please, ASAP) and get the Ewing announcement out of the way.

Anyone who can enter the portal should. If Georgetown by some unexpected chance does something smart - like hire Pitino - the players can always leave the portal. But, might as well start the process now.

He wants to come home. It will be Seton Hall or Rutgers.

Best wishes to Denver - he got a total screw job with how he was treated by Georgetown. I expect him to be a good shooter and solid contributor at a Power 5 program. He was a major casualty of the Traveling Nickelberrys Circus of Mercenaries. Anybody that thinks Ewing is a good guy should look at how he treated Denver.

Best wishes to Denver -- he got a chance to show what he could do in several games. It was obvious that he'll play hard, but also is small for his position and thus has a hard time playing defense. He took enough 3s to show that for whalever reason, his proficiency in high school didn't move up to high D I level.

Agree. Maybe a new coach can make him a D1 starter but watching him warm up for games where he was shooting nothing but 3’s with no defender, he was not making that many of them. And he will not be coached up to be three inches taller.

And he will not be coached up to be three inches taller. Yep. He was a not-ready freshman on a team that desperately needed the one skill he was supposed to have. Another year or two and maybe he finds his niche and becomes a contributor at Georgetown or elsewhere. In any case, best of luck to him.
