And just to add to that as well, I recall the Lakers winning the next four games of that series. Not that the stepover had anything to do with that, the Lakers were just the far better team, and AI couldn't go for 50 every game. LA was better and probably still win the series but Larry Brown took any chance of a upset away in game 3. Shaq got in foul trouble and went to the bench and instead of letting Deke work on the backups for a few minutes Larry rested him immediately. I remember being so Editeded because Deke was going toe to toe with Shaq and maybe Philly could have built a lead going exclusively against Kobe. The series was never really close after LA won game 3....well that's how I remember it...lol

Ten players in the final 2022 rankings I'm higher on than the industry ByADAM FINKELSTEIN 247sports.com/LongFormArticle/College-basketball-recruiting-rankings-247Sports-Adam-Finkelstein-players-higher-on-187416882/#187416882_1Denver Anglin got a bump in the latest 247Sports rankings (from 112 to 91), but on my board he’s even higher. Simply put, I think Anglin is the purest shooter I’ve seen in the high school game this year. He has a picture-perfect release with textbook elevation, release, loft, and rotation. He can also make shots in all different types of situations – spotting up in transition, off the dribble, coming off pin-downs and staggers. Even big shots in critical moments. Now, he’s not a point guard in my opinion and much less effective when trying to prove otherwise, but when he embraces being arguably the most college-ready three-point shooter in the country, I think he has a chance to be one of the best freshmen in the Big East and, later, one of the top players in that conference.

Very encouraging, and good to see a Georgetown recruit improve his ranking after committing to us.

Thinking exactly the same thing. We have a lot of guards, I hope he gets meaningful minutes. I hope he EARNS meaningful minutes. Sometimes you have to get meaningful minutes to see if you deserve them in the future. I hope he gets run in the non-league part of the schedule to see if he's ready for prime time. If not, so be it. But don't bury him.

Having talented players, especially high percentage 3 pt shooters, who are fighting for playing time because we have multiple options would be a significant difference from this year. We have one group of posters worried that next years roster is weaker than this years team with their 0-20 conference record. We have another group concerned that we have too many players at several positions so incoming freshmen may not get any chance. I guess I’ll take problem #2.

The problem is our roster is constructed in a way that we now have a logjam 1-3, and very little depth at 4 and 5

I'll take problem #2 all day... everyday... Load the team up with talent and let the dawgs loose and fight it out. We need talent. Get as much of it on the bus as you can and worry about where it fits and minute distribution when it gets in the building.

My opinion - If you produce in practice you should get playing time regardless of who you are. My old high school coach's mentality (I did not make the college scene).

If you can shoot you will play. PE has shown that he loves shooters, sometimes too much so in my opinion (more PT for shooters that don’t offer much else).

If Anglin is as ready as this pundit says he is, Aglin will play, logjam or not. Ewing consistently has given freshmen playing time when he's felt they could produce immediately (see--Pickett, Blair, Akinjo, Mac, LeBlanc, Harris, Mohammed).
Its worth noting that no one who transferred from Ewing's Hoyas due to lack of playing time suddenly blossomed elsewhere. We'll see if that changes with Billingsley or Beard, who are taking big steps down in order to find playing time. Among those fringe players who stuck around, Ewing has had mixed results (Igohefe, Wilson, Clark never really progressed much, but Wahab and Holloway took significant sophomore leaps).

I think Denver will be good for at least 15 mpg next year. He will share duties at the 1 and 2. Remember Dante being left open on the perimeter to tempt him to shoot? That will not happen with Denver, which will balance the rest of the opposition’s half-court defense and open space for the other 4 Hoyas. Plus, he’s supposed to be a good defender.
