Stopped posting in game given the Provy result. Glad it worked again..
So happy to see Bile play within himself nearly 100% of the time. Again. Texting with my daughter I thought she captured it - controlled aggression..so many plays in the paint, hustle plays, a steal and runout, noticeable chatter on D (were our players or the mics 🎤 louder tonight?). The light switch is now turned on and I like it.
Also gotta hand it to Juggy. Big shots. Stealing a few minutes at the point. Moving the ball. Still put up points without his runner in lane/at baseline dropping.
Staying disciplined defensively will go a long way with this team.
And again from amateur's perspective didn't find much to quibble with even with Pat and staff tonight. Extremely happy this group got a signature win this year.
Let's hope Super Bowl Sunday turns out like last year's.

Dante has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season. This!! I thought his defense was off the charts tonight. Took the task of guarding their best player and held him to 14 on a low shooting percentage. Wow!!

I'm gonna stay above the fray...NOT...did the freshman play? Sibley got a little run in the 1st. The rest did not. Pat has his core clicking now. Dante says hello!!

Our eyes don’t lie, we were significantly better on both ends. Check the efficiency stats from last night. Not only did our offense blow by any prior game, but our defensive effort was as good as it’s been since the opening game too. It’s pretty clear how much more competitive we can be if we aren’t losing the TO and FT battle (as we had been). barttorvik.com/team.php?team=Georgetown&year=2021

Even if Zeg comes out next week and goes off I won't complain if we get that effort. That was the GTown that I expected to see at the beginning of the season. Only switching Morko's and Juggy's roles.

I have been super critical of Bile and Ewing giving him minutes over the younger guys but he's really an asset if his shot selection is under control. He plays with great energy and toughness. I will gladly admit I was wrong on this one if we get results like this.

I am thrilled with many things after last night and thought the team and the staff did an excellent job. We have looked like a new team after the pause. However since this is HoyaTalk, there's always room for over-analysis and consideration...
So that being said, my only negative thought after tonight is that the 3 guys that keyed us tonight presumably aren't here next year. Given the strong games of our seniors and grad transfers, should a case be made that we need at least one of them to return next year and use the special eligibility exception? I'd argue Blair is most needed as I'm not sure where else the 3-pt shooting will come from.
Also, really impressed by the growth of Tim, so the flipside to that is Mutumbo might have a tougher time finding minutes over the next two years? Can we play Wahab/Tim and Mutombo together or are their games too similar at this point?

He can play 4 positions (power forward, small forward, and some small ball center and shooting guard) so I think that versatility will help spread the minutes.

Found this on the Creighton forum: Look at the red arrow on the right hand side behind the basket support. That's the game clock and not the broadcast clock.

Way to go, HOYAS!!!! I'm looking forward to reading here on how Ewing failed the squad after this win. Yes, the horn, or the light. the temporary clock did not show tenths of a second. So when it first showed 0 it was really 0.9. Ball was out of his hand in under a tenth. I think the clock Behind the hoop confirms this.

So umm...what happened in that players only meeting that Bile referenced in his postgame Provy comments? - So there's really two ways to attack a small team. You can either match them and go small (which I had suggested)...or you just double down on your size. Credit to the coaching staff for that gameplan. We held them to very few offensive rebounds and didn't get punished on the perimeter as a result. Very well done
- Man I just don't quite get Bile. The first half was pretty much a reversion to what we had seen all year, he was 1-5 with 2 points and forcing shots. I mean two of his shots were blocked directly into Tim dunks. And then he morphed into the ultimate glue guy, defensive stud, flying around doing all the little things. It was basically a freshman year LeBlanc redux. He had 4 steals, 3 led directly to layups and would've been 4 but Jefferson grabbed him. And I guess that steal of Bishop was just considered an offensive rebound but that was basically another. If he's going to do those little things, get steals, rebounds, you can live with some forced shots. We forced Creighton to turn the ball over 1 out of every 5 possessions. That was the difference, and while they threw the ball around a little bit, our size affected them and again that was Bile. What an effort
- Blair's development in his ability to read the pick and roll is really impressive. Just some beautiful skip passes, handled the blitz nicely. Some really nice play designs to get guys open looks too.
- We basically forced Creighton to abandon their defensive gameplan and switch every screen. That forced us to go more inside in the 2nd half, and again kudos to the staff for making that adjustment. Even when they tried a zone, Ewing dialed up a play he uses against Cuse to get Bile a nice little bunny in the paint. Everything clicked
- I was waiting for a team to just force Wahab to his right shoulder, and not surprised that came from McDermott. And that led to 2 quick travels from Wahab. But he adjusted and we finally saw a move over his right shoulder to finish with his left hand. Need to do that more consistently to keep teams honest so he can get back to his left shoulder. Baby steps
- It was one of the few shots Pickett missed...but Dante splitting the double team on a pick and roll and hitting the man in the corner for a 3 is the good stuff. Was able to draw some fouls driving to the hoop today as well. Progress
- Here's a simple block / charge rule. If the contact doesn't stop the offensive player from yamming on the defenders face, it's probably not enough contact for a charge. We got the ball right back on a similarly funny Carey "charge" but man Pickett deserved better
- I'll fully admit I was in the find 5 minutes camp, not going to deny it. But if the team is winning, then yea I'll keep my mouth shut on that. Sibley was honestly the most important piece of that so happy he's still in the rotation.
Amazing team win, kudos to everyone involved for continuing the grind

I saw it too. I hope he's okay and gets treatment if necessary. He had the walk of someone that tweaked a groin muscle and waiting for that twinge again. Agree. Pickett's limp and Wahab looking like he was tanked. Ice baths and heat massage on the flight home, and hit the theragun all day. You know a lot.

Wow!! ...and that was against perhaps the best PG in the conference. He looked good running the show. Was strategic and playing controlled...pretty good decision-making. His mentor, former coach was correct before we saw him in person...he's pretty good, has skills, and confidence!

So happy for this team- great efforts by so many. Huge contributions from Bile; Timmy was huge off the bench in the first half; Blair actually really ran the point pretty well at moments; Pickett drained threes; and on and on. But the biggest thing was GREAT DEFENSE from the team, with special props to Harris and Bile. Keep it up Hoyas!!!

Practicing must be taking on a different edge and the young guys are competing against them in practice. That is a learning experience. I also like the energy coming from the bench...they are happy for each other. That's great!!

Exactly the signs of growth I'd been hoping for all season. February should always look better than December. Team is playing better and staying composed despite a few too many TOs. When Blair and Pickett are hitting their shots the offense really opens up. Several times last night I feared that Bile was reverting and Harris and Pickett forcing the drive, but team settled down and ball moved on offense. Most impressive was the effort on defense against a quick team. Hope they have turned a corner and will be a tough out for any opponent from here on. Major challenge on Sunday against a frustrated Nova that was dominated last night by St. Johns. It's amazing what can happen when a team "without talent" plays with discipline and some structure on both ends of the court.
