I’ve watched several PC games as my dad is an alum. Here’s my take on them from watching and/or what he has said: - Outside shooting has been a major problem (as well as missing way too many layups for a team at this level) - Bad free throw shooting plagues them (been a problem for a while with their team) - Best way to win is playing games in the 60s; won’t be able to win any shootouts in conference - Luwane Pipkins (UMass grad transfer) has affected the chemistry, and other than 2-3 games, he’s been a disappointment - AJ Reeves has never recovered his form prior to the injury last December (remember he started his freshman season with multiple 20 pt games) - Nate Watson missed time early this year and hasn’t hit his stride yet but has brief stretches where he can look dominant - Fanbase still supports Cooley but are growing weary of his offensive philosophy which has them go through some rough scoring droughts - Fans are hoping this team can be like Xavier last year where they overcome a tough OOC schedule and then be competitive in the BE Have to disagree with keeping the game in the 60's. (unless you mean keeping them in the 60's-which I think everyone would agree with being a good thing). Ewing's teams need to be scoring in the high 70's/80's. We're not the rock fight grind it out UVA style team. If it's a game in the 60's, it means they've imposed their will on the game and likely means we've struggled big time offensively. Really hoping Mac is back for this one, but regardless, need to get Yurt going/stay out of foul trouble, and our cast of guards knocking down their outside shots. Dare I ask for a dominant Pickett game too?? No I meant PC needs to keep the game in the 60s to win.

How did they beat Texas? Those are some horrible L's they took and the only outlier is their last game against Texas. I'm sure it will be tight but we gotta get a W.

It's not what they score it's what their opponent scores... If Gtown scores 75+ I like their chances a lot, I'm pretty sure that's what Dave's point is...

If we score like we are capable of, they are unlikely to match us. But if we struggle offensively, PC can totally win an ugly game against us like the UNCG contest.

They have a good record at home and prior to last year Cooley had the Hoya's number. Add in the uncertain status of McClung--even if can play with what limitations-- and there is nothing about this game that I like other than a feeling that this group of kids is tough and playing with a purpose now. Hoping for a win, but not counting on it.

Remember this group of 7 ( 9 with George and Tim) does seem to like the road; the Dunk should be alive and hostile: Just right!

Gotta be locked in from the start. I feel like Providence will give us all they've got. It's at home for them and they've had plenty of time off to hit the refresh button. Can't take them for granted, need this win

The only outliers are the Friars (7-6), who check in at 129th. Providence can only hope that gap tightens as it winds its way through league play.
“The great thing about our league is every game we play is a top-70 game,” Cooley said. “All of our wins will be quality wins and there are no bad losses.”
Asked to break down the league, Cooley didn’t hesitate. “Where do you start? It’s really, really impressive what everyone has done and we’ve been kind of the exception, but everybody has the same exact record at the start of league play.”

Let’s not meltdown if we lose the first two games...where we will be dogs in both. Would happily take a split.

If people like melting down based on the last day or week, then they are going to love this season as it is lighter fluid for hot takes. We will be dogs in every road game as will most teams in the Big East. Who can protect home court and steal a couple on the road will win the league. Nobody is going 15-3.

I think we can beat Providence without Mac, I am just not sure at all that we can beat them with only 6 players. If that makes any sense...

Check out Cooley’s shirt. Not only is he a bad coach, he can’t dress himself either. Hoyas should take care of business on the road tonight. Providence is the laughingstock of the league, Coach Ewing is licking his chops...

A lot of good things are happening for us despite the unfortunate injury to Mac. I hope he is healed. I am still waiting for Jamorko to overcome himself and have the big breakthrough! He had a big game against Texas, I believe, I would like that measure to become his standard! I think he has to concentrate more and perhaps focus on his follow'thru. His footwork is so much better. He is close....so much talent. Get rid of almost. Get THERE!! And stay THERE! My hope for him and us.

Is really your dad and didn't send you birthday cards? C'mon. I really need to know what this man did to you that hurts so bad.
