Can’t come soon enough.
UMBC was tourney team last year - are they still good?
After the last three - anything but W will be huge let down.
Let’s GOOOOOOOOOO!

Another sign this team is “new and improved” will be cleanly taking care of opponents we should beat. First chance (of 3) to show this starts Tuesday.

Also important that it's going to be at home during the holidays aka no crowd energy whatsoever, compared to 2 hostile road environments and Syracuse. I feel much more confident with Jagan and Allen as our veteran leaders. Credit to Ewing too, he seems to have these guys composed and ready the last few games.

Worried about this one but hope Hoyas will be okay.

I get what you are saying 4ever...I wouldn't necessarily say a trap but I do agree that we have had a tendency under Ewing to play up to the competition and down to the competition and I am worried about that.
Let's see how the "new look" Hoyas handle the situation...

Let's see how the "new look" Hoyas handle the situation... I don't see how it can be called a trap game when #16 UMBC upset #1 UVA in the tourney. Everyone is aware how good a program they have. It wouldn't be a trap or surprise if they won since they are good, not some unknown, mediocre commodity.

Still have confidence in the "new look" Hoyas. We are going to win because we have to win

Now is when this suddenly veteran team's maturity should come through. Following the Syracuse game, even though it is a Tuesday night, it would be nice to see a significant uptick in attendance for these kids. UMBC is relatively local and there are still students around, even if in finals.

Based off their wins and losses its really hard to tell...they got beat badly by most teams that are somewhat recognizable...they did handle MSM pretty easily but I think this version of GU would do the same...to clear my thoughts up, I think they are nothing close to the team that beat UVA and we should win easily if we don't look past them....

Since JT3's last few years, we have been consistently inconsistent. During Pat's time, we have consistently played down or up to the competition. Let this be the team that changes those traditions. But, it's Finals Week, so this might be the classic trap game. Play smart, focused and as a team, and we should win by our post-Akinjo double-digit average.

Time to test our defense against that mid major small guard attack. Leading scorer is 5'2!

I'm interested to see how the rotation works for this one... again. Does Ewing turn to the walk-ons again? How quickly does he if the Hoyas are up by quite a bit? Also, yes their best player is Darnell Rogers who is 5'2". It's pretty incredible to see.

It seems likely that at least one of Malcolm and Tim is going to get minutes this season, and that the staff needs to be looking at ways to have multiple bigs on court at the same time, given our limited roster options. I'm curious to see which of the two (or both) hits the court against UMBC and our next two opponents. I would have guessed Malcolm as the more likely redshirt, at the beginning of the season. But given his speed, I'm wondering if they'd be looking at him as an emergency 4 now that they need someone to guard Pickett in practice!

I did a quick look at the metrics to see if there was anything super interesting. The only thing I really saw that they did at an above average rate was draw free throws.....and they pair that with an atrocious free throw percentage.
The most interesting question for the rotation will continue to be: when Pickett is out, what do lineups look like? Do we go 4 guards, twin towers (either Wahab or one of Malcolm / TI), or Muresean? We saw a little of all three on Saturday.
Would be great if we could get a comfortable win that helps computer metrics (ie cover the spread) and keep everyone's minutes in a reasonable range

It will be interesting to see if we test a 4th option.

He didn't look lost on either end, I'd give him a nice audition over the game or two
