Not feeling too optimistic, but I'll try for the sake of playing along.
IF* our recruiting class and current roster stays as is, next year might be salvageable. A lot is still up in the air though

Replacing Josh will be hard. Replacing James a lot easier. Couldn’t disagree more. Akinjo had the chance to be our best PG since AI. Much, much, much harder to find those guys than raw athletic types like LeBlanc. Pickett brings most of what you got from LeBlanc. Who is going to replace Akinjo? Allen? Kid can’t throw it in the ocean, isn’t a game-icing free throw machine like James and doesn’t have his handles.

12-13 season was assumed by all to be done when Whittington was ruled ineligible around this time that season. We went on to win the BEast Championship!!!!!
That's all I got.

I do not believe you are crazy and also believe the team will come together and surprise. They will quickly become warriors! They may lose some games. So what. They will rise and hopefully become men. I would take personal development over a win any day, life is short. We lose a lot of talent obviously. But will the remaining players band together as a unit, become closer, work and listen harder? It will be interesting at the very least, might be exciting in the long run, and could be fascinating in the end. Moseley is our leader now, both on and off the court. I think he has the mindset to pull these guys together. Although part of me is cringing, another part can't wait to see what can be accomplished. Hoya Saxa.

As my Duke grad wife said, "Maybe this will be a Rasheed Sulaimon situation!" (Duke went on to win the National Championship after he was dismissed)
Sigh.

I never agreed with that take... I always believed Otto's playing 2nd fiddle to Greg held us back in the early games....wasnt the Tennessee game that year? When we scored like 44pts with Otto, Kel and Greg...

Akinjo had pretty much decided to stop caring about the team and only himself this year. If you want to speak from a purely talent standpoint yes he's hard to replace and far superior to Allen. If you look at it from Allen is more than effective enough to run the offense (whatever that is) and to get everyone more involved to take better shots than I think we can somewhat survive. I was one of the biggest James fans coming in but you could tell that he had got way more selfish this year and the team was paying. If it was just him leaving then I think we could possibly have a......Ewing theory working. Losing Josh means you lose your only true PF who did all the intangibles this team needed. Pickett doesn't bring nearly what Josh brought last year. To label Josh as just a raw athletic type does a huge disservice to him and what he was as a player. The truth is we can't be that much worse than we have been this year or really the past 2 years because quite frankly we have stunk. Maybe we are a few BE games worse now than we were before yesterday but it's not like this team was going anywhere in its current form.

Players have to buy in ... and James acted as if he was checked out.

Love Josh but, perhaps for reasons now coming to the surface, his contributions this year were minimized. James is the guy who breaks the press, makes clutch foul shots and leads the team. Not easily replaced.

Akinjo was a problem... and uh, we tried to do everything we could. Well, you know what I mean. He's gone, and we couldn't do nothing about it. He's gone. And that's it.
