Even if we're not in a big recruiting window we still need to entice community support from the DMV. We're the hot bed of East coast basketball and should be every kids option from the North to the South. IMO we'll need a PG come 2021 if we don't land R.J. but I currently don't see that we're actively pursuing a great number of PG's. Is PE that stealthy? I think he believes Akinjo will be back next year as he should. Guards are alot easier to find than good bigs. Will get our guard at some point. Might be Diarra, Moore maybe even a grad transfer, juco guy or a decommit. I think we're sitting pretty good on 2021 guard emeryon McDonald. He is from Louisana has ties to LeBlanc and Alexander.

1) No way you should ever let that happen. It's a terrible look for the program and fans are right to be disappointed
2) These events have very little to do with recruiting and have very little impact on why a kid chooses a school. It's way more important to be seen at their school, at their games, and engage with their community in their element.

The whole thing is strange, I couldn't even find much of anything on social media about it. It almost feels like once they lost the musical act and once they cancelled the recruits and once they moved the time up, they tried to hide the fact that the event was happening. Not sure if they knew it would be poorly attended and that's why they didn't want to push the event hard on social, or if the fact that they didn't push it hard contributed to it being poorly attended. Maybe a bit of both. But if they thought attendance would fall apart when Fab cancelled, I think the better move would have been to just cancel or postpone the whole event. We could have had it in a few weeks, maybe the weekend before the season starts--you know, when it actually feels like basketball season. And maybe by then we could have had a suitable replacement for the musical headliner.
I feel like if you have a "pep rally" that's sparsely attended, it's actually counter-productive. It's deflating, it makes the program seem small-time, etc. I can't really fault the SID (or whomever organizes the event) for not being able to find a replacement headliner musical act so quickly, but if you think the lack of a musical act is going to lead to poor turnout (prompting cancelling of recruit visits, time change, etc.) then I think the move is to just reschedule the whole thing. Go without a "madness" event this year, but put on some other kind of celebration of the basketball program at a little later date, complete with a musical act and lots of recruits.
I did hear someone say that it seemed like the players had a good time, so that's a positive.

The staff is in a good place with Emareyon McDonald out Louisiana. From everything I've read, seen & heard about him, he's gotta a chance to be really good. Has some RJ Davis similarities. Fwiw he was at one time going to take an OV to Georgetown for MM. Obviously that was at least pushback for good reasons.

How about if Hoya Bradley Cooper brings Lady Gaga to next year’s MM and really put on a show? Recruits’ moms would love it and the place would be packed! Or, how about some reggaeton artist to raise the roof?!

As much as I love Jonathan Mulmore and Trey Dickerson for playing here I don't want that type of talent going forward. We really need better PG play, the PG sets the flow and the direction of the offence. Currently the BE has two great PG's and if we are to compete we need equal PG play or better. I look forward to seeing Akinjo grow into equaling the talents of Howard and Powell this year but with that said we will need a future PG.

I like McDonald but I'd really like McDonald paired with Kaleb Brown, that would be a great pairing at the PG spot. No offer that I see for his services but maybe Kirby is making stealth moves?

Could care less about turnout. What I noticed was a team that was much more comfortable and cohesive than last years. I watched last year and the team felt awkward. They seemed to really enjoy it and feeling I got is they really enjoy each other. We will see if that equals wins but I think that's way more important than fan turnout

I don't believe there was a dunk competition. Just a layup line that they happened to dunk in.

How do we expect recruits to get excited about Georgetown basketball when they can't even put on a madness event when schools like Maryland, Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Kansas are having crowds of 10,000 plus at their arenas. We are not any of those schools!!! If we start winning convincingly and show consistent discipline we will be fine!! We don't need much. Now is the time!!

The only school comparable in size is Duke. We are never going to draw like a state school, even if we are top-10. It’s just simple math.

While it has been stated ad nauseam that we are a smaller school, when our teams do well we draw a much better crowd than when our teams have been marginal. If the team wins, more students and alums will garner interest. Even those of us who peruse this board every day understand it is much more fun when we are winning! I suspect if big Pat has a dominant fast playing team, there will be plenty of fans to fill McDonough even without a musical act. When the best a team has done in 3 years is losing to Harvard in the NIT and has a more distant history of losing repeatedly in the first round of the NCAA, it is difficult to get students to get excited before the team has even played a game. I think we all get that there will be more casual interest and possibly better crowds if we are undefeated after the early tournament at Madison Square Garden. If we do well this year, maybe we'll finally be popular enough that they'll start making GU starter jackets again so I can replace mine from the 1980s.
