They should really open this up to non students and hold it at Cap One and make it free in lieu of renting it out for a meaningless game against a scrub team.
That would reach out to the community, generate fan interest And maybe some new ticket buyers. Get people excited about the new season

I just watched some of the video feed—what a sad sad turnout. It’s crazy to think people would think we could fill up the capital one arena for this kind of event.

We usually fill McDonough for this event. Tonight was pathetic.

Just watched Hoya Sadness. Most of these kids probably had more people at their high school pep rallies. Yeesh.
Oh well, just win, baby, or something ... at least it looked like the team was having fun.

We're all focused on Fabulous for entertainment, but was there any recruits in the house?

Poor students and alums who have to be pampered with entertainment before they will come out to support their school's team. I agree with this in theory. But you also have to work with what you have in terms of a student body. It's not a surprise that kids don't come out for the team without added enticements. We know the attendance numbers at games. There's little in the way of good excuses for not having a packed house and excited students regardless of what it takes to accomplish that. The majority of the student body, even when I was in school, were not sports fans. I happened to be one and had a few friends that were too. The majority of my friends couldn't have cared less or, the step up from that, were fans of pro or college teams from their home towns that weren't close by. It's not like going through grade/middle/high school and feeling like you're a part of something because you grew up with the same group of people. You have to entice people to feel that school spirit. Especially in an age when there are a bunch of other options and competition for the same jobs, even among one's classmates, is the norm. It's basically the party or the bar you could take or leave on a random night in college. But, if the girl or guy you're interested in is going to be there, all of a sudden, that's where you want to be. It's on GU to provide the girl/guy interest.

I don't think so. They wouldn't have stayed long if they wasn't lol. Certainly none from outside the dmv. It was a show to say the least. A joke. The biggest recruiting showcase of the year fit the program and this is what we get.

I just felt like after the Williams signing and some good preseason media coverage, we had some momentum heading into the year. The lack of noise on the recruiting front (I know Pat has made a habit of being stealthy here though), coupled with a pretty disappointing Hoya Madness by any way you measure it, has stalled some of the good vibes going into this year.
I hope it's just a blip, and once real games start the product on the court will set the tone (hopefully a good one) for the program.

Last night was unfortunate. I believe it’s just a one year blip. This will all be forgotten once the season starts. We need to have a strong season and we finally have a roster that can make that possible.

Agree and think that this is true of most college programs that have had a stretch of several years without success. Those hard core fans who are on this site see the progress after some very poor years, but to the casual fans and those students who do not care about sports, but simply look for social events, the Hoyas are still not on the radar. My colleagues who root for SoCal teams like to remind me that even with last year's encouraging trends, the Hoyas were still a middle of the pack team in a down year for the conference. An NIT bid and a home loss to Harvard are not going to generate the kind of excitement that is needed to fill the empty seats that vastly outnumber fans at Hoya home games. I hope that this year changes that reality.

I feel like the administration and AD failed to plan. Always have to have a back up plan. You can't wait tell 3 days before hoya madness to pull the plug on fabulous not to perform. It almost happened a few yrs ago when meek mill got cancelled and we got Yo Gotti I believe at the last minute. Georgetown needs to take a good hard look in the mirror and get it together.
How can we compete on the recruiting trail with the likes of the blue bloods and we can't even put on a great midnight madness event. This was suppose to be one of the biggest events of the year to sell your program to other high profile recruits. Hell Memphis had two music performers. That way if one can't come u still got the other as insurance. It ain't rocket science Georgetown. I guarantee you those players are hanging out at Howard University this weekend for their homecoming.

The thing is, so many acts are already in town for Howard Homecoming regardless, it’s hard to fathom how you can’t get someone to take a quick trip over, do a few songs, take some pics and be done with it.
You watch Kentucky’s event and then ours and ... SMDH.

What happen with WALE, he's local, popular and from what I gathered from the last time he was there he's loyal to the Hoyas?

Even if we're not in a big recruiting window we still need to entice community support from the DMV. We're the hot bed of East coast basketball and should be every kids option from the North to the South. IMO we'll need a PG come 2021 if we don't land R.J. but I currently don't see that we're actively pursuing a great number of PG's. Is PE that stealthy?

Don't want to have him perform every year anyways. That's on the admistration and AD for their failure to plan. Honestly if I'm Ewing I would be Editeded. Someone needs to be suspended without pay to be honest. This can't happen when your trying to compete with the blue bloods of Kentucky, Kansas, UNC and Duke.
