I just went through all of this manually and Hoboken is correct that as long as Nova and Creighton win, we get the 6 even if we lose. All of the potential 8-10 teams (us, Xavier/sju loser, SH and Butler) all split with each other. So it comes down to who beat Nova. We did and the Xavier/SJU loser did but the Hall and Butler did not). Thanks for the explanation. I would put probabilities at slightly above 50% of getting those 2 results. For those who like numbers, KenPom says Villanova is 55% to win at Seton Hall, and Creighton is 77% against DePaul, which works out to 42.35% of that outcome happening. So your guess of 50% is pretty spot on.

Well let's not forget whatever probability they give us of winning at Marquette if we're talking about % chance to avoid Wed, that needs to be factored in as well!

This is the best news I’ve heard in the last 12 hours! You gotta be kidding. The way Seton Hall and DePaul are playing, plus the way BE teams in general are playing right now, no game is a given. I will be shocked (although happy) if Creighton and Nova win.

I just hope they come out against Marquette and fight play hard and don’t get blew out by 20 points or more again,if they do the season is over it would not matter about big east tournament anyway if they don’t compete they quit against DePaul.i hope they battle Marquette if they loose fighting I can take it, but last night against depaul is the worst I think I ever seen a Hoyas team get beat.are they doing finals this week? Come on Hoyas let’s fight.

Does Nova have anything to play for in that game? Their NCAA seeding is not going to depend on a Q1 road game, winning the BET is probably their only real chance to get a decent NCAAT seed. Nova has lost 4 straight on the road, so I am liking the "upset" for SHU. I have watched a few games at the Pru Center this season and it is a tough place to play. I do not feel comfortable relying on Nova to win. Hoyas are going to have to do it themselves, and I am ok with that, they blew one chance and they have another. Miss both and you belong playing in the opening round.

They won the first game by 28 points.

It's only going to help seeding, plus if Nova wins they get the outright BE title regardless of what happens in our game and the one seed in the BET. That win could potentially move them up a line or get them playing in a favorable region.

Good, so Nova does not get the #1 seed in a tie with MU. SO they should be more motivated to win than I thought. But the 4 straight losses on the road still makes me cautious, SHU has everything to play for.

Hoyas need to beat Marquette or probably be any where from 8-10 seed in big east tournament. Seton hall is going to be ready probably win.depaul might beat creighton.providence took them to ot last night.hoyas need to win and not expect to get a bye if they don’t. Play hard and smart if get behind early don’t panic and start firing up threes try get it inside out.and Ewing may need to press the hell out of them they been getting a lot of turnovers the last 3 games. Go Hoyas.

If we beat Marquette Saturday, terrific. A real sign that the team has recovered from the “debacle”. If we do not beat Marquette, I hope that -whatever the permutation or seeding- we play DePaul. An Exorcism is required. Who knows, it might even spur a little run.

There is a chance that 6 teams tie for 4th place at 8-10.
Nova Marquette The winner of Xavier and St. John’s.
Lastly, Providence.
That is crazy.

So theres way too many scenarios, but let’s assume the most likely scenario is we lose and Creighton wins over DePaul.
So then Seton Hall wins and we fall to 7 to most likely face PC/Butler loser on Weds?
Seton Hall loses and we get 6 and then play Xavier/St Johns winner on Thursday?
Does that sound right?

Same analysis suggests a 37% chance of playing on Wednesday night. Not sure how it was developed and if I trust it.

When I was looking at it yesterday, it looked liked if the Hoyas win they could be seed 4-6, if the Hoyas lose they could be seed 6-9. Given the current state of the Big East, I'm not to concerned with the potential matchups.
