People can tell who you are referring to by looking at which players are coming off the bench and are not getting much playing time. I am still waiting for McClung and Mourning to get back to full strength as this will this will turn around the season. You'd be surprised. It has nothing to do with playing time. Its some of the guys that are getting ample playing time. For those blaming or wanting to replace the asst coaches, I honestly don't think talent is the root cause. I think it has more to do with in-game adjustments. There have just been too many games where we blow late leads because of poor coaching and poor execution. But isn't that part of the job description of an assistant? To me, an assistant needs to be able to provide some combination of 1) bringing in talent, 2) assisting with player development, and 3) positively impacting the game with X's/O's and development of schemes. If an assistant is not excelling in at least 1 of these 3 areas, there's no reason to keep him on the staff. That's a bare minimum. Can't really speak to #2, but given our current 2019 class and what we've seen on the court so far this season, I think it could be argued that there are suits on our bench right now that aren't cutting it in any of these areas.

Cooley talks about his assistants in this clip, it mirrors what Rockaway is referring to. In fairness to PE, fans used to ask the same questions about assistant duties when JT3 was the coach... The assistant talk starts @ the 1:20 mark

Moderator Note: OK, this discussion has gone far enough. I asked not to get into speculation about specific players and people went there anyway. Getting rumors started here, regardless of how well-sourced and well-founded some may consider the sources, does absolutely NOTHING positive in regards to those players and to the team as a whole. The fact that those posts exist are solely because I have an actual job that demands my attention during the day and is not tacit approval of some relaxation in board rules. Clear?

B&G, this is awful news to my fan's ears. I've always respected your insight and don't think you'd recklessly pass along rumor as you care about the program and have access to information that has benefited this board often over the years. I hope winning comes soon and it cures all evils. We really cannot stand to lose any of Mackinjo or Leblanc. In your opinion, what are the strengths of the assistant coaches. Particularly, is there any one of them that is an x and o's guy? We need that. I'm an optimistic guy and bleed Hoya blue, but I was dumbfounded by the fact that McClung and Leblanc were on the bench so long in the second half of last game. We needed to get into the paint and draw fouls. I thought I was watching a game from 3-4 years ago with a 3 point shooting team like Creighton getting more FT opportunities. SMH.
