Super lazy defense from Jagan on 5’9” wonder frosh for a 3 at 1:24 left... Coming off the bench and he is stylishly lazy... Bad Jagan. Someone would think Jagan stole your girlfriend or something. Seem to jump at every opportunity to put him down. Nope. Two lazy defensive tries. I’m his main cheerleader in the “taking the charge” stops by Jagan.

I think the fanbase is over-rating our opponent just a bit. We match up very nicely against them. Big(s) who can score, huge rebounding advantage, and they don't turn opponents over. Also - they shoot the 3 well, but not exceedingly well. And their schedule to date has been garbage. I've only watched 2 of their games but i don't see anybody to be worried about. If jamorko & jagan (& Mac, Greg, Blair) can play half decent D against their wings, we should win this by double digits. (Yes. I realize how we've played so far.) Jessie, Josh, and Trey outrebounded Liberty by themselves - 27 to 26. Flames shot 13 for 36 from 3. We had too many turnovers but only 11 in the last 30 minutes of the game. We did what we needed to do.

6 players scored 9 or more.....which is easier to do when you score almost 90.

This is a game where a win, no matter the score and the stats I will take and move on. Liberty is a good team that has a good shot of winning their conference and going to the dance. Given our season to date performances against lesser teams, style points were less important here.

We gave up 13 of them and he closed out strong on a number of potential opportunities but the only ones mentioned were the two he gave up.

At the end by the little fellow with Jagan losing him which kept it closer than comfortable

Liberty's a nice team. Great Pack Line and they will do some damage in the tournament.
I'm glad we passed our first Pack Line test this season.

The apparent good (I say from my computer) - three point shooting, of course. I don't expect that to be repeated this season, but I would gladly take 40% or above on a regular basis. Rebounding. I'll just say again that I am very happy that LeBlanc is a Hoya.
The not so good. Turnovers. Broken record. Free throw shooting. Left too many points on the table today.
The unexpected - Pickett led the team in assists, and was the only player with more than 2?

Liberty destroyed 114th ranked Georgia State yesterday by 26. In fact, Liberty is now ranked ahead of us on KenPom (91 v 98). We are a slight favorite anyway because we are playing at home but, but this game is not going to be an easy one. The fact that we need to play our A game to win this one simply demonstrates how weak the team is at this point. If we need to play our best to beat a 100-level opponent, at home, it's not a good omen for things to come in the Big East season. Is it possible that maybe, it's too early to put much stock in KenPom?

What was his name, started at PG under Esherick Matt Causey? Yes, ended up transferring to Georgia Tech.

Between sitting Blair in the last game and not starting Pickett tonight, PE is certainly trying to communicate to some of these players.
Separately, I was hoping that Akinjo would place a higher priority on getting his teammates into successful situations. 19 points, 1 assist, and 4 turnovers is not a bad score line, but I would rather see 8 points & 10 assists. When PE has talked about selfishness the last 2 weeks, I wonder to what extent he is talking to James.

Three of them were passing it around the perimeter on made 3-pointers. The other two were also made jumpers. He played better in general -- but that funky assist stat-line was a bit misleading.

After not being able to see the games and lightly tracking while played and then watching the Big East summaries, I’m looking forward to catching the games again.

I am taking the points and the over this should be a tight high scoring game. We're winning by 20 in a blowout!!!! Had the team played smarter down the stretch, I'd have been right!!!

Very much so agree on the good team front, I've touted them as a good team this entire time but Lipscomb is the huge favorite to win the Atlantic Sun. That's why this is such a weird game, their tournament odds aren't great yet they are a good team. This was a great showing, being up by 20 against this team is very impressive at this stage. Next up, Cuse.

Got back from the game. It was good to get a win tonight -- Liberty did not disappoint. They are a talented, balanced team with a clear identity. They focus on hitting their shots and have a number of guys who can score from multiple spots on the floor.
My concern with Georgetown is that it didn't really seem like we had an identity. We found something in the locker room at halftime. After the break, Akinjo did a better job of not going too fast and keeping the game in front of him. We also used our size to get inside and make shots.
Impressions on the players in person -- I went back and forth on Akinjo. He makes a lot of mistakes, but he's our most important player. We will go as far as he takes us. I really, really like LeBlanc. He might be the only player worth watching on defense. He's tough, big, and a strong rebounder. Also plays with a lot of energy. McClung was brilliant on offense -- really energizes the whole team. I also really liked Trey's game. He has gotten a lot better.
All in all, glad we won. Some bright spots, but we are hard to watch on defense. Time to get ready for Syracuse.

Interesting game. It's not as simple as "we made threes otherwise we would have lost again." It's not completely wrong that our outside shooting was key, but it's pretty reductionist to go that route. - The team did a good job of getting a lot more movement early. You could tell they were working on it. Ironically, the Hoyas' best overall run in terms of differential came when they rejected it ... or mostly, James rejected it. You can see the yin and yang of the offense right now: get good ball movement but watch a whole lot of dumb turnovers come back, or have James and Mac play more one on one but not have the turnovers. Ideally you get the ball movement with less turnovers, but that may take a while.
- James provides a close up of the dichotomy. He holds the ball too much at times, he presses too much at times, and he definitely missed quite a few assists today ... but he also tends to make the shots he makes. He had a play on the break in the second half where he took a long 2/contested 3 when Jessie was trailing for an open one. He just missed the right pass. But he made the shot, so ... *shrug.* But he will be better looking for the pass more -- in the first half he had a wide open oop to Mac on the break, forced it himself and missed.
- Jessie was not great today just in terms of catching the ball. His turnovers, plus at least 2 from other players, stemmed from him just not being ready or able to catch pretty good entry passes.
- It was nice to see Jamorko be aggressive. He wasn't what I would call good, but he was in it. Which was step one. Good to see.

I will say that those assists might have been misleading as far as individual skill passing, but they were great indicators that Jamorko was part of the good crisp team passing that led to a bunch of our 3s today. I think the movement of the ball has increased a LOT since earlier this season. A lot less hesitation and a lot more seeking open guys to beat moving defenses. If our defense can only come around a quarter as much....
