Patrick was channeling JT2 in his post game comments. He said he could have brouught any player who played out to talk to the media, but he chose only Greg. Although Georgetown’s policy is that freshman (Akinjo,McClung,Lablanc) do not attend post game conferences, like Big John he was sending a message to the whole team that everyone’s imput was important. Greg’s defense and timely three pt shot was just as important as the starters play for the team’s win. It probably also helps that he’s likely the most eloquent speaker of the group. No, that would be Mourning. Thank you for your unnecessary opinion anyway.

After all you started this thread: hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/30958/disconnect-gtown-basketball-persona-academicsCoincidence?

Pat was rewarding a veteran player but noob Hoya who hasn't seen a ton of time but did all that was asked of him including hitting the shot that put the team up for good. Smart coaching decision.

Important point Saxa. A critical talent of a successful coach is the ability to keep the bench players fully engaged and committed not only in games, but especially in practice. Jagan and Jahvon will very likely see fewer minutes this season because of the guards recruited "over them" if you will - but their contributions will be crucial to our success as a team. Emphasizing those contributions, not only to the team but in the press when possible, rewards their hard work and motivates them every day. I was struck by how supportive and committed Trey Dickerson has been not only last season, but continuing, for a player who chose to spend his 5th year as a Hoya, but most likely did not get the playing time he might have expected when he committed. Identifying recruits who will bust their butts every day, not only in season but all year round, seems to be one of Patrick's strongest assets.

Hearing most of them speak? Bigotry and those who espouse it are not welcome here. Exactly! I had to delete my original typed up response to his post as I was concerned it would get me tossed off this board! I figured I'd give him a chance to answer for his nonsensical statement but knew I'd get a bull response like I did.

Unsurprisingly, Kenpom rates this game as the 8th most exciting all year. Pretty much all the others in the top 20 are OT or last possession games. kenpom.com/game_attrs.php

I can't believe we got through 25 pages w/o anyone talking about how Brad Underwood looks and acts like a psychopath.

I'm just glad we got a little payback to Underwood (at least for me) for that beatdown by Okla State a few years back (when my hopes had been raised by a win over Oregon). That it was done with Okla State alum Gottlieb running the Fox anchor desk made it more sweet. [But, Underwood does look like he'd win a guest Emmy as best psycho ever on Criminal Minds!]

I'm sure others have said this already, but I'm really liking Greg's presence on the floor for us. Smart player...give us what we need at the right moments and understands his role.

I am wondering if he has the ability to flash to the foul line and hit that jumper against the zone. Could be helpful against Syracuse etc.

What are you basing this statement on? Hearing most of them speak? Hey DanMcQ, Can you please address this, I have been coming on this board pretty much since its inception and I know we do not tolerate this bigotry on this board.

What is it meant by hearing most of them speak. He reminds of some of the people who were around when Ewing was a player. Alot of folks made fun of the way he talked.

I was impressed by Greg's play the other night too. What really impressed me was the job he did covering the 5 star freshman guard from Illinois who was having a big night (I forget his name, but he was really good). It seemed that Greg's size/ length and strength helped him do a really good job on that end. The kid was pretty much scoring at will for a little while and Greg came in and made him work hard and slowed him down. I had thought Greg's role was going to be a 3 point specialist (and he may still fill that portion of his role) but it looks like the staff has confidence in his ability to cover some of the bigger guards they will have to play against.

We all know the reality is that he hasn't heard most of the team speak and was intentionally making an inflammatory racially based statement as there was no need for his comment to be posted otherwise. His response to my question was a BS coverup attempt as he didn't feel anyone would call him on it or was hoping he'd have more similar minded posters cosign on his ignorant post.

The events of the last two years suggest that we are not past that type of thinking and behavior. But we certainly don’t have to accept it in our part of the world.
