Not sure if he's playing in this, but DeAndre Ayton is on the Bahamian National Team

Glad the team is getting this bonding trip but I wish we weren't playing the same team 3 times.

Not bad at all...
Greensborough isn't flashy but they usually have good computer numbers. They were top 50 last year. The other two teams finished around 200 I believe. Could be wrong, I'll have to look to make sure.
Edit: UNCG: 68 (Finished the regular season at 60) American 178 UMBC 226
The good news is it's not the type of schedule that will be frowned upon by the committee. Especially if you can get Duke (fingers crossed).

While UMBC and American aren't on the same caliber as UMD, I hope playing these local schools re-establish the Gtown clout in the area as it pertains to local recruits

KenPom ranks from last year:
Nov 6 Mount St. Mary's -- 324 Nov 9 Central Arkansas -- 302 Nov 14 Penn State -- 43 Nov 17 Georgia State -- 124 Nov 21 Texas (N) -- 25 Nov 22 Duke/Cal (N) -- 4/241 Nov 30 UNC Greensboro -- 87 Dec 4 Oklahoma State (A) -- 83 Dec 7 SMU (A) -- 107 Dec 14 Syracuse -- 39 Dec 17 UMBC -- 230 Dec 21 Samford -- 144 Dec 28 American -- 200
- No MEACs (!) - Only 2 300+ teams (and both were VERY young last year) - That Duke/Cal difference probably won't be AS big this year, but will still be significant. Gotta beat Texas. - If you're gonna play those 200 level games, it might as well be locals like American & UMBC.
- Last year's avg KenPom rank for OOC games was 177.8 - This year's schedule would've been 131.7 (vs Duke) or 149.9 (vs Cal)

Not complaining...just suprised... Yeah as far back as I can remember it has generally been early to mid September. Definitely a positive change! Granted these are last year's rankings and things change from year to year, this seems like a much improved non-conference schedule. (RPI, KenPom, NET) Nov 6 Mount St. Mary's (294, 324, 319) Nov 9 Central Arkansas (283, 302, 298) Nov 14 Penn State (91, 43, 49) Nov 17 Georgia State (50, 124, 126) Nov 21 Texas (N) (42, 25, 33) Nov 22 Duke/Cal (N) (1, 4, 3)/(256, 241, 225) Nov 30 UNC Greensboro (32, 87, 68) Dec 4 Oklahoma State (A) (116, 83, 72) Dec 7 SMU (A) (136, 107, 94) Dec 14 Syracuse (44, 39, 50) Dec 17 UMBC (196, 230, 228) Dec 21 Samford (203, 144, 161) Dec 28 American (238, 200, 175)

That's a solid schedule -- here are the 2018-19 RPIs for the opponents:
1 vs Duke (tent) 32 UNC-Greensboro 42 Texas 44 Syracuse 50 Georgia State 91 Penn State 116 @ Oklahoma State 136 @ SMU 196 UMBC 203 Samford 238 American 256 California 283 Central Arkansas 294 Mount St. Mary's
That's a big difference, if we wind up playing Duke or Cal, but either way, we have: - at least 4 games against (last year's) RPI top 50. - at least 7 games against RPI top 150 - 2 road games against teams in the 100-150 range (either Quadrant 2 or Quadrant 3 games).
Probably a bigger upgrade over last year's schedule than last year's was over Ewing's Year One OOC.

UNCG is no joke - they're averaging a record of 27-8 (total 81-24) the last three years (and should've knocked off Gonzaga year before last in the tournament with a more evenly officiated game, IMO).

A little darn early to release the schedule for me- I am of the school that Big John was not cloak and dagger enough- but overall a solid schedule.

UNCG was very solid last year- last team out- and although they graduated some key players, they will be no joke. Miller is an athletic guard who would get minutes for any team in any conference. Hoyas should be able to pound them down low but it should be no cakewalk.

Looks like this year's schedule is a modest upgrade, but not a killer. Probably just where it needs to be given our trajectory.

Just from the marquee games alone it's a massive upgrade; mix that with the "buy" games they scheduled they're wayyyyy better than in years past. I'm really happy with this. I will venture to say that all those teams on the schedule will have better numbers than last year and this is easily a top 30 SOS when the season ends
