Keep limiting the turnovers. Will be a tough game, but if we take good shots we can be right in it. DEFEND!!! 40 minutes. Every single game. Like the Hoyas used to do.

Will they play the game on Saturday, given the weather on the East coast?

Will they play the game on Saturday, given the weather on the East coast? Snow is done. Bitter cold, but fans can deal with that

Thanks for the weather report. The morning weather report made it sound worst than it is.

Obviously this is the true test. A home game against one of the best teams in the BE. I'm afraid we will play well and lose again in the last 5 minutes. I'd rather get blown out than keep losing close games. It just keeps us hanging on to the false hope that we might actually be a tourney (NIT?) team this year. Huh? Look this team is not going to the NCAA tourney unless we play super lights out so just enjoy the improvements of players. Makes it easier to take. I like it in this situation to keep games close means the team has not given up. Agree, especially in the Marquette game, with all those debilitating TOS, on the road -the guys didn't quit.

Key game to see if we can capitalize on the momentum from the DePaul game. If we can punch a bit above our weight, we can steal this one and get to 2-2.
Speaking of which, I am not ready to give up on post-season hopes for this team. We are improving. We have proven we have the talent to compete with at least the mid-tier of the power conferences. We win a few games like these and the NIT is very much in play. Need to stay focused and optimistic.

This one definitely would help w/ momentum.
2-2 -- with a road win & a good win vs a top-25-ish opponent -- and you've got a ton of confidence going forward. I'm sure there'd be some irrational optimism, but I'd rather have that than resignation and irrelevance.
1-3... and everybody says "well, they only beat DePaul". Majority expectations probably return (at least temporarily) to "let's play for next year"
Next week is going to be a tough one on the road (@sju, @shu) -- but the kind of week that good teams would at least split. And that's right BEFORE our first game against Nova.
I'm not saying we're a "good" team, but I'm also not ready to say we're a bad one. We've played OK, minus the stinker at Marquette. If/when that becomes the norm, I'll start thinking about next season.
Til then... Let's do this! GO HOYAS!!

You know what I want? I want us to shoot the lights out. Now we're not a great three-point shooting team but we are about as average as you can be (#165 nationally, 5th in the conference through 3 games). But we also don't seem to be particularly volatile (32, 31, 38 so far). Let's see that end tomorrow and just have a completely bonkers 13-23 from three in a win. I'm up for that game where everything goes in for the Hoyas.

Jeff Goodman got sent to Lithuania to cover an important LiAngelo Ball press conference (not joking, he actually got sent to Lithuania to cover the LiAngelo Ball beat).

Making a lot of threes would give the Hoyas a chance to win this one, but going into the game with the strategy of taking a lot of threes could be a real problem. Missed threes turn into long rebounds and good opportunities for the opponent to get out and run. that is playing into Creighton's hands and the way they want to play. Having good floor balance and getting back on defense is going to be really important to prevent those big runs that Creighton can go on. If they can find a way to win this game I won't care how they do it, but taking a lot of threes could be an issue.

Oh I hear you, but if the first few Creighton games are any indication, we are going to get a lot of looks from three. I don't think we go in planning to take threes as a strategy but I can't imagine we won't end up shooting a fair number. So let's make them.

I think it has been pretty clear this season that for certain players (Pickett, Blair & Derrickson principally) if the open three is there they are expected to take it. Kaleb seemed to have more of a license to shoot threes in the OOC games but it could be that the better defenses in BE play just aren't allowing him time with his slow set-up.
If these guys have time they are going to hoist some threes, and I think that's playing within Ewing's philosophy. Play fast and if you are a scorer with an open shot, take it. We ought to get a sense of how far this philosophy really goes next season with Mclung on board.

I'm cheering for Marcus Derrickson to have a huge game, but this didn't happen.

Hoyas shot 9-24, last game in three pointers. 35% for the season, so no counting on 3's to ever bail us out lol. It's never a good idea to rely on three pointers. If they don't go in you will complain the Hoyas are playing soft and not taking or getting the ball inside the post where it should go. Shooting a lot of three's is always an issue when the Hoyas do this. They beat themselves when they do this.

Yeah, but they should always realize then can step inside the three point line to take a better shot as well especially if the three pointer isn't falling 35% on the season. You can also make the extra pass to the open three when needed. The thing with Hoyas should be to play inside/out. Be tough! Play tough!

We're suppose to play hard and tough over here on the East coast and Big East.
