Coach Ewing to Marcus Derrickson, "what is wrong with you? Haha Do you want to play for me?" I love it. Old school get in ya face stuff! Stay tuned, I think things will only get better.

13 turnovers and 9 made threes. Big improvements and more like what we need for a chance at success. And of the 13 turnovers several were unforced so we can do even better.... although DePaul put very little pressure on us. Hugely. A lot better.

With Dickerson and college guards in general, I am looking for skill not height. The 5'10" Rowsey just torched us for 35. Height is overrated IMHO.

Dont know what Jamorko needs to do to get in sync. He looks like he's growing physically on the court. At some point it will all come together. Physically he looks like Giannis A...really these are growing pains. He's good on D, and his sweet spot is in the corner. I really think that when it clicks for him, watch out. He looks to be doing everything a half step faster than he's comfortable with, which does happen to some freshmen, and he's forced to do it in actual games because of our needs on the court. When he lets the game come to him, I think he will be really, really good. Stroke looks sweet, looks composed out there, just as you said, a little out of sync. He's going to really torch an opponent by the time this season is through, and maybe a good deal more than one opponent. Also love Blair's attitude. That guy is a gamer. Yes indeed!

True, true, true so true.
13 to's still is too many, but I'll take the WIN. Keep working on this.

Still shooting too may 3's 37.5% 9-24. Just think if the Hoyas wouldn't shoot this many 3's and concentrated more in the painted area's. Hoyas, from the free throw line shot 83.8% 31-37. We would've had an even higher percentage at the free throw line. Go Hoyas! Work, work, work!

Yikes, but I knew something bad had happened. DePaul kid should've been called for a flagrant foul for real!!!

Very nice win. Responses to DePaul’s repeated runs was impressive, particularly from Govan, who basically strapped the team on his back offensively down the stretch.
As stated multiple times above, Kaleb did a very good job on Strus; nobody else on the squad could even slow him down.
Love Blair’s attitude - big stones Loved Ewing’s fire - once again as stated above, Derrickson is a very talented player capable of playing at an all-Big East level who coasts way too frequently, particularly on defense and relative to shot selection. It was awesome to see Pat demand more.
Dave L still dresses better than he coaches.
And Pickett...there is no denying the talent, but my goodness he’s maddening kicking the ball around and defending. Honestly, his lack of attention and awareness on the defensive end (he’s a zone rebounding nightmare) is almost as inconsistent as his offense. But, yeah, I agree he and Blair are the future, so you ride it out.
Mulmore was fabulous for Mulmore tonight - not doing JUCO things. Disruptive to their offense, not ours.
Jagan should eat all of Dickerson’s minutes.
Congrats to Pat and his Hoyas. And props to Big Jess.

Nice win against a decent team. Really like how engaged Ewing is during the games, actively coaching his players and demanding more. With the exception of Pickett it was a solid game for everyone and most impressed by the fact that each of the guards contributed in a positive manner to the victory. Eight of the 13 TOs came from Pickett and Kaleb (who offset his with a strong defensive performance). Happy to see Mulmore and Dickerson playing better than in the last game and just as happy to see Ewing pushing them when they make mistakes. As for Pickett, I remain very high on the kid and while his decisions are not always good and his handle still developing, I cannot help but think he will be a very solid player come February. Cannot remember the last time FT shooting by the Hoyas was not a major concern in the final minutes of a close game. There really is not a weak link at the line.

I agree with everything else except Jagan should eat all of Dickerson's minutes because Dickerson controlled the tempo of the offense for a good portion of this game. I don't know if people realize's a point guard's role. Dickerson made some nice feeds in transition and good decisions on the ball. He didn't try to force too many shots this particular game. He played within himself and the offense. What did Jagan do better than Dickerson this game. It's a team effort. I respect your opinion though. lol

Pickett & Johnson need to figure out another move when on breaks or going in the lane. It is a charge every time. They both dip their shoulder and it is an easy charge to get a call on. Pickett is soooo one dimensional right now but as a freshman I guess that isn't a huge surprise. I would just like to see something, anything, else out of him.
Johnson is really our glue guy this year. He is doing great on D and doing all the little things. My type of player.

This entire team is too careless when it comes to driving into the lane and they seem to have many unnecessary charge calls against them each game. Have to show more control and vision when deciding to make the drive. Really miss DSR's pull-up/step back jumper in the lane which was always golden and avoided the charge.

If Derrickson's nose is broken as indicated, can he still play with a mask/protector? Anybody know how long this might be required, and whether he can be as effective as he has been...he's playing at a high level and if he and Govan continue to play "Editeded off" for 40 minutes, we're a much better team...

I assume Ewing will have him out there playing with a mask on.

Jesse Govan about midway through the first half, Trus is trying to get loose from Johnson under the baseline escapes towards the corner head slightly down and is met hard By Govan with a strong shot to the upper body knocking him for a loop. I jumped like I haven't in a long while. To me the play of the game. Reminiscent of Patrick's elbow to Mullins in the 85 rematch at MSG.
Never thought i would see that side of Govan changed my opinion of him and shows the little things that Ewing is bringing back.Made me immediately think of the line from Casablanca, Victor Lazlo to Rick "Welcome back to the fight. This time I know our side will win.”
