While _way may sometimes spout circular arguments, here he has pointed out a fact that I have yet to see anyone dispute regarding how many players UMCP has recruited out of B'more the past decade. And it bears noting that neither of the best two players to come out of the city over that time period became Twerps. So while the baltimorons (no offense wbh) may proudly sport their UMCP colors, I think he has a point well taken that in terms of actually recruiting basketball players, it's not like UMCP has the city on lock. You and the_way make valid points about Baltimore recruiting. Excluding 'melo and Gay, where is the top B'more talent going since no major program seems to have the City locked down? And by the way, your screen name is hilarious your screen name is hilarious.

I think the problem is that _way and WBH are arguing two different things. On the one hand, WBH is saying the general populous of B'More follows Maryland hoops more so than any other school. They get more ink, air time, etc. than another nearby big school like G'Town. For the most part, he is correct: UMCP (that's a bitch to type, by the way... I prefer Twerps) has the city on lockdown in terms of who they follow. On the other hand, _way is saying when it comes time for young men to make their career decisions, the Twerps got NUTHIN' on Baltimore. And that in fact history has shown G'Town CAN make some inroads and set up shop and take the top talent when it arises. And for the most part, he too is right: the record shows the Twerps don't get any more of the top talent out of Baltimore than any other school, and thus in regards to a handful of young men choosing the path their lives will take they do NOT have any sort of lockdown... quite the opposite. There... does that settle it? Nobody is questioning WBH's assertion that the media and general populous embrace UMCP over anyone else, and nobody is questioning the facts _way points out in regards to their average recruiting of the area. You two dopes are just arguing different points! Or am I way off?

Sorry, _way. "Dope" is my catch phrase and was long before Tony and Mike bogarted it on PTI... those bums.
Although that is my favorite show on television, even if Tonly only watches a game or two a week and as long as its done by 10 pm.

But I do agree with Way that GU can make inroads in Charm City recruiting....

"bogart:" Verb. Def - to selfishly take or keep something; hog.
Usage: slang; bogarted, bogarting.
As in "Mutumbo walked into the bar and yelled, "Who wants to sex Dikembe?!" effectively bogarting all the attention in the room."
Not to be confused with the Black Belt Jones (1974) definition of "bogarts:"
Big Tuna: "I'm gonna have to call me some bogarts from up in 'Frisco."
Pinky: "What are bogarts?"
Big Tuna: "Treacherous _____as!!"

So I don't check the board for a few days and come back to find this thread, thinking I was going to see a photo shoot of the new jerseys for this season. Damn you, Grandpa! Foiled again.

My sincerest apologies to the board for the confusion / false hope I may have inadvertently created with the subject header of the thread. I guess I was just so excited to see the official announcement re: BB and DJ that I didn't really re-read my subject header for the potential alternative interpretation. Perhaps this could plant a seed in the brain of someone in the AD to shoot a couple photos of DJ and Brandon in the prototype blue and gray unis to create a little buzz about the team later in the summer.

I spend some time on the NDNation message boards, leave me alone I root for the Hoyas in hoops, and one of my favorite things are the names for other schools. USC is Southern Cal (apparently that is repellant to SC fans). Michigan is scUM and my favorite: Boston College is either Fredo or UBICH(University of Boston in Chestnut Hill) On the Indiana boards, Purdue is PUke, while Kentucky is pUKe. Indiana boards are viscious, esp. the Indy Star and the "Fruit Loops" boards.

So who do we have:
UMCP SUcks
Any more? A friend of mine used to call Notre Dame "Indiana University-Purdue University South Bend." Although I could never figure out if that was a knock at ND or IUPUI or the state of Indiana... very confusing.

Not quite the same, but still . . .

A few. . .
I like to call Villanova "the street corner near Philly." But I can't take credit for that one, that's all Barney Gumbel.
I can't really think of a more insulting name for Pittsburgh than Pitt.
I think we can start referring to UConn as ESPNU.
