Now if only we could figure out Wallace's status.... Buffalo, my modus operandi is to assume status quo (walk-on) until GU announces otherwise. And otherwise may be never, in which case the family is making a tremendous contribution to the program (above and beyond that of all other families which send their children on scholarship to the program). In any event, it's a matter between III, Jonathan and the family and should be respected as such......

I think you're right as far as the discussion of whether or not to move him onto schollie or not... but once that decision is made, doesn't it HAVE to become a matter of "public record?"

We are going to be a deep team next year. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. We are not sneaking up on anybody next year. People will not take us lightly anymore. The bullseye is back on G'town. The question is, are the guys ready for the challenge. That is one of the many things that plagued the Esh regime. Not rising to the challenge when it mattered most in games. Lets rise to the challenge guys. I think we can do it. But, its going to take hard work like last year, and even better effort. discipline, and improvement to get to the NCAA's. Just look what happened to the Twerps this year for a case study of getting too big for your britches based on the previous year's success.

As great as this is, it by no means guarantees us anything...we could be in the NCAAs and make a run, or we could be right back in the NIT. Don't forget how tough the BE is every year. I just don't want to get carried away.

This is FANTASTIC news, but I must echo _way's cautious optimism -- we are (on our way) back, and everyone knows it -- we won't steal any victories this year because we caught the other team by surprise . . .

Glad that they made this announcement. We should keep an eye on the Post and Times for additional comment and articles tonight. Anyone want to start a pool on when/if we'll announce our 2005 recruiting class?

This is indeed good news. Senior leadership counts for a lot. Let's hope DJ can begin where he left off in the postseason. We know BB will continue to be a force.

This is great news. With three contributing seniors (Owens will be in his fourth year of play so I will deem him a senior), we will have a chance to have real senior leadership for the first time since it seems like forever. All three have had their moments, and each could be more consistent. In the big situations, seniors can make an enormous difference if they have the right make-up.
This is the most talented group of seniors that we have had in a long time. The absence of seniors last year had a lot to do with the February swoon and Owens' stretch run through the tournaments illustrates how experienced players can rise when they see the near-term end of playing important games. If Cook, Owens and Bowman bring confidence, urgency and focus to the season, the underclassman will follow.
The incoming freshmen give us depth (except underneath) and if we are fortunate, there is a standout among them who will have a Green-like impact from the outset. We know the sophomore class will contribute and perhaps Hibbert will make a major improvement. Green will be conditioned to the rigors of the longer college season and may be ready to expand his reportoire of low post moves and assert himself for both halfs with greater frequency. If Wallace's role is reduced by the freshmen, we may find his stability and stationary shooting ability an effective way to change tempo now that we have personnel that can go faster.
Reality reminds us that we played a soft Big East schedule last year and that we won nearly every close game. We will need to be better to reach the same results and much better to achieve superior results. With more talent and higher expectations, chemistry and coaching will face more challenges. That said and managing expectations for a few bumps in the road, we are in a position to play our best ball in February and March this year with more experience, depth and talent at our disposal.
I can hardly wait.
