I like how Glide boxed out ThisJustIn from the game thread. ThisJustIn wants none of Glide. And he didn't even foul while doing it. Dude's playing smart!

Not sure why, because most everyone here seems very pleased with tonight's performance...but It did not move the needle for me at all. The guard Woolridge on NT looked far better than anyone in our backcourt and the frontcourt depth is..well noone. We were running three and four guard lineups at times. Not sure why Walker and even a body like Muresan can't get on the court a bit for these "cupcake" games. The answer, of course is that PE knows far more than I...but it sure doesn't keep me from wondering, just the same. Oh well...maybe we will play better with some fans in the stands and major D1 talent on the other side.

I think Muresan was listed as questionable with strep. I hope it's not going around the locker room. Wasn't Walker out with strep a couple of weeks ago?

The bizarre thing is that now our guards are being given wide open looks. It used to be our bigs who were left alone. Somehow, our guards need to step up or we will have a hard time beating our BE opponents. It really stood out how they were guarding Jagan. They weren't guarding him outside the paint, let alone out by the 3 point line.

Kind of a blah game. Played about 30 minutes of very mediocre basketball against a very mediocre team, but we eventually turned it on for the final 10 minutes. Good to see the poise and to pull away for the win. Also surprised we didn’t see Walker get some time, but I guess it’s because this game was in doubt really until under 5 minutes.
I continue to be unimpressed by Dickerson. This team looks solid to me. I actually think we can play with anyone in the BE when the threes are fallling. When they aren’t falling and if Govan/Derrickson get in foul trouble we will definitely struggle.

Yes, I recall that Walker had strep but hopefully it isn't lingering. He needs to get minutes, hopefully this Saturday which shouldn't be a close game. I will be there with dozens of my friends.

One thing I'll say is that Moseley and/or Mulmore HAVE to start showing some range from deep. Good luck with that. Always hopeful though.

Has anyone mentioned that we had a very impressive 12 blocked shots? I think that was significant during long stretches of the game, when otherwise our defense was poor, giving up way too many 3s and uncontested layups. It also seemed like we gave up way too many steals.
Jessie and Marcus finished with excellent numbers, but I want to give a special shout to Kaleb, whose defense on their leading scorer Smart was consistently strong.
A few notes from the in-person experience:
As others have noted, the Eastern HS Blue & White Marching Machine (great name) was terrific, especially at halftime. Jack the bulldog gave one of his better skateboard performances. And, most impressively, there was a group of 30 or so high school students from upstate New York leading well-coordinated, loud cheers of "Let's go, Hoyas!" and "De-fense!" They were better than our own students (when our own students are there), frankly.

Somehow, our guards need to step up or we will have a hard time beating our BE opponents. It really stood out how they were guarding Jagan. They weren't guarding him outside the paint, let alone out by the 3 point line. Exactly. They aren't guarding Mosley and Mulmore and each is unwilling to take the shot. The biggest shortcoming of this team is the lack of any perimeter shooting from the guards. Pickett and Kaleb have fallen off too in recent games with Pickett too quick to shoot and Kaleb having many fewer opportunities from the corner. Dickerson hit last night from deep but still is shooting under 20%, Mosley slightly better and while Mulmore has better numbers from deep (46%), he seldom shoots and still has poor form that requires time and space to get the shot off. Add a shooter (not a volume shooter like Pickett, but one with high consistency) and this team could threaten most of the BE teams. Unless Christmas brings us that shooter --either through the development of Blair, or any of the other 3 guards finally finding the range on a consistent basis, it is going to be hard to score. BE teams will simply sit back , clog the middle to take away Govan and MD and dare the guards to put it up.

WOW, that's sounds impressive your last paragraph, thanks for sharing.

Here are a few observations from last night's game. Apologize if they seem overly negative, I struggle with that (1) I am not sure Woolridge hit any outside shots, or even attempted any. Most if not all of his shots were layups, largely uncontested. Opposing guards are still getting by ours with ease (2) Jagan needs to drive a lot more. Unlike Mulmore, he does finish. I don't ever see him as a knock down three point shooter, but he will be much more effective if he can also hit the pull up 10 footer and floater, which he has shown he can do on occasion. Need much more from him (3) when will we figure out that when the opposing team guard drives and ends up on the baseline under the basket he is going to pass to a three point shooter in the corner? It always seems that we leave the corner open and end up running back to contest the three pointer, usually too late (4) when did Jesse become a shot blocker? He still doesn't have great lift but his timing is greatly improved (5) really hope Walker gets some run. Can't imagine getting by this season with two front court players (6) we are woefully short on outside shooting. Maybe Pickett and/or Blair develop a consistent shot but we will not win many BE games if teams sag off us on the perimeter

Pickett and Blair have nice strokes. Unbelievable how teams give Mulmore-Dickerson-Mosely open looks from three and we can't make them pay. It will be our weakness all season.

He's picking up steam/confidence now. Hopefully he'll continue to play well. Of course he and everyone needs to work on defense. Pickett is rushing his shot and taking his lefthand off of the ball as he releases his shot. I can't believe no one has corrected this. Has to work on this for his shot to fall consistently. Dang, I wish Malinowski was playing. The young man can fill it up. And he knows how to get open. He'd be huge! .45 secs. Nice jumper, 1:15 Finishes strong in transition.
