Pickett and Blair have nice strokes. Unbelievable how teams give Mulmore-Dickerson-Mosely open looks from three and we can't make them pay. It will be our weakness all season. True. Pickett has a nice stroke when he's making his shots, but when he's which is most of the time that stroke can get mighty ugly from him dropping his lefthand on the left side of the ball. Here you go. www.breakthroughbasketball.com/fundamentals/shooting-technique.htmlJuggy is rushing his shots as well, but yes, has a nice stroke, needs to work on right hand big time. Mulmore is a senior and should've been working on his jumper during the off season as much as he breathes. lol

I like how Glide boxed out ThisJustIn from the game thread. ThisJustIn wants none of Glide. And he didn't even foul while doing it. Dude's playing smart! Ya'll are crazy LOL!

I was impressed with Govan's defense for both this game and for the previous couple of games. He has improved. At the beginning of the year, I had pretty much written him off on the defensive side of the court but I now realize that was premature. I loved the adjustment he made on Woolridge in the second half. He stopped hedging out of the paint and allowing Woolridge to blow by him for the layup and instead just waited for him in the paint. Woolridge either got his shot blocked or wisely backed out and tried a different option. And he is improving defensively without fouling.
Govan and Derrickson are just working so well together this season. It is a pleasure to watch them complement each other down low. Good test for the Hoyas. They responded well.

Not sure why, because most everyone here seems very pleased with tonight's performance...but It did not move the needle for me at all. The guard Woolridge on NT looked far better than anyone in our backcourt and the frontcourt depth is..well noone. We were running three and four guard lineups at times. Not sure why Walker and even a body like Muresan can't get on the court a bit for these "cupcake" games. The answer, of course is that PE knows far more than I...but it sure doesn't keep me from wondering, just the same. Oh well...maybe we will play better with some fans in the stands and major D1 talent on the other side. I think we're pleased with the WIN and the ability for the Hoyas to show faith through adversity. The Sodom thing and loss to Syracuse. Coach Ewing did say they came out rusty. Once relaxed the Hoyas picked up steam. NT is not a push over team. They are a tough and keep coming at you. There were more positives than negatives I'd say for the Hoyas. Woolridge was okay but he goes left a lot. NT had two other guards that were shut down by the Hoyas. I was sorta surprised because they've carried for most of this season. Good post though dude.

I think Muresan was listed as questionable with strep. I hope it's not going around the locker room. Wasn't Walker out with strep a couple of weeks ago? Makes sense strep throat is sorta contagious I think. But he look okay on the bench but you just never know.

Kind of a blah game. Played about 30 minutes of very mediocre basketball against a very mediocre team, but we eventually turned it on for the final 10 minutes. Good to see the poise and to pull away for the win. Also surprised we didn’t see Walker get some time, but I guess it’s because this game was in doubt really until under 5 minutes. I continue to be unimpressed by Dickerson. This team looks solid to me. I actually think we can play with anyone in the BE when the threes are fallling. When they aren’t falling and if Govan/Derrickson get in foul trouble we will definitely struggle. Dickerson, I think played fair too good. He did control the tempo some. I think his shot is coming through, although he did make some errors out there I still like seeing him on the court in certain stretches of the game. We need everything we can get. lol I agree with everything else. Respect.

Here are a few observations from last night's game. Apologize if they seem overly negative, I struggle with that (1) I am not sure Woolridge hit any outside shots, or even attempted any. Most if not all of his shots were layups, largely uncontested. Opposing guards are still getting by ours with ease (2) Jagan needs to drive a lot more. Unlike Mulmore, he does finish. I don't ever see him as a knock down three point shooter, but he will be much more effective if he can also hit the pull up 10 footer and floater, which he has shown he can do on occasion. Need much more from him (3) when will we figure out that when the opposing team guard drives and ends up on the baseline under the basket he is going to pass to a three point shooter in the corner? It always seems that we leave the corner open and end up running back to contest the three pointer, usually too late (4) when did Jesse become a shot blocker? He still doesn't have great lift but his timing is greatly improved (5) really hope Walker gets some run. Can't imagine getting by this season with two front court players (6) we are woefully short on outside shooting. Maybe Pickett and/or Blair develop a consistent shot but we will not win many BE games if teams sag off us on the perimeter 1. Nothing new there. lol 2. Jagan does drive a lot but I guess he could. I think you mean "shot." True would like to see all of our guards stop and pop or shoot the floater (my fav shot). 3. Once we get a couple of true point guards that know how to communicate, point communicate. 4. Last night bro. Jessie had 6 blocks. We are seeing Jessie's development right in front of our eyes during games. 5. Yes, we all want to see the youngster Walker get some burn. 6. Truth.

I love to see players development during games. Shows the coaches have confidence in his players and believes in them. Just wish it was shown more to the 7'3" young man who is no longer on the Hillop.

Good win over a feisty and underrated team. Love what Govan and Derrickson have been doing. The type of game we had trouble closing out the past few seasons. Johnson needs to assert himself more- he can disappear at times and we need him. The PG position is what it is this season. Just need the guards to practice shooting to keep defenses honest. Let's face it, Big East guards are gonna be for real.

The UNT player jumped over Dickerson. I watched that play several times trying to figure out the call. It was almost like a soccer official carding someone for a flop.

Not many here gave Coach Ewing any credit last night. Glad the Mean Green coach did.
“Patrick’s done a great job with that team,” McCasland said. “You can tell there’s a physical presence to it. There’s a lot capability. They’re running good actions. They have a good team. Just the way we tried to set up action was at least to get some movement, to try to get those pieces moving because they’ve got such great length and size at a lot of positions.”

That wasn't a flop, lol, Dickerson was trying to get a charge call. Right, there was no contact on that play. I'm glad he at least tried to get a charge call. It was a smart thought to try to get a charge call on behalf of TD. imo

Bench a kid for trying to make a fundamental and smart play that can always be a game changer is not a good look. A charge call is what TD was trying to get. :0)

But he is also crucial on defense; seems to be our glue man.

Best team the Hoyas have beaten this season. I will give the credit to Coach Ewing. His players were prepared and did not allow the tough loss to Cuse turn into two losses. I am looking forward to this team taking its chances in the BE. I am more optimistic now than at the beginning of the season, the Hoyas have some nice pieces. With some shooting and an absence of foul trouble, they will be a tough out for anyone.
