I think it is fair to say that Moynihan of Butler is an excellent player, but as I watched this game and the league game with them I was taken with how much the coaching staff asks of her. For some reason it does not appear to effect her too much, but corner to corner on the sidelines, playing most aggressive defense and being involved in the offense as little as they had, but then having her also do the throw ins to me is really a bit much. Pace the young lady. Use her where most helpful. Aside that, she is but a junior and we must face her again next year.

So deserving. Played wonderfully yesterday, individually and as a unit. Congratulations to the ladies!

Hoyas get screwed by the committee. No home games play on the road @ wake Forest. If we win will likely travel to 3 seed Penn state.
I'm actually hoping that The Committee Screwed us in this case and it's not an instance of us screwing ourseleves by not bidding to host. No way Wake should be seeded above us. So we either got screwed or someone in the AD messed up.

Yikes. Not a single home game. That sucks.

Well, we are not a Power 5 conference, and our RPI was not what it was last year going into the tournament, but playing in the #6/11 game (and I assume we are #6 due to league championship and RPI comparisons) how in the world did we wind up on the road in this game against a quarterfinal loser and 5-4-1 ACC team?? This goes beyond reason. Tough enough to get #3 Pedophile State U. in the second game if we win, but a roadie to start for a Final Four team from last year. Something is wrong here.
With that said, you now play the cards you are dealt. So hop on the bus and head southwest six hours and show the Demon Deacons what Hoya soccer is all about.

Yikes. Not a single home game. That sucks. Drawing a total of only 595 fans for the Big East final didn't help its case.

Yeah,I would think we are the higher seed, but I agree that other circumstances were at play. We don't have lights, for one, and Wake does. That could have been a consideration for scheduling. And, yeah, it doesnt help that we didn't draw well. It's really a shame because they seem to be peaking, but this is a tough draw.

A couple thousand is a lot to expect with our undergraduate population. Then again, Wake is a smaller school.

Yeah, sadly you are not going to see a lot of commentary on the horribleness of the women's soccer bracket. But, the more I look at it, it's a pretty horrible selection. I cant see any rhyme or reason to how the teams beyond the top 10-15 are ranked. I sort of think that might be the logic. They just seed the best teams and then try to accommodate scheduling and regionalism with the rest. Just look at teams like Murray St and Tennessee. They've been ranked most of the season and have good RPIs, but somehow they play each in a 7-10 game in the first round. Probably because they are somewhat close to each other.
Oh, well, just win baby!

With the amount we are investing in quality mens and womens soccer, it is disgraceful that we don't have lights for our field. For the past 10 years, we've had two top 10 programs that could be used to generate alumni goodwill but 90% of the games are played mid-day on weekdays. Put up lights! Host night games! At this point, it is obvious that the lack of lights is harming the on the field product, having to play on the road in a first round game??

Oh, well, just win baby! Jook, that's exactly what they do. They seed the top sixteen, and then they try to limit travel for every other game in the bracket (except that they avoid conference matchups in either of the first two rounds). Seeded teams are given priority to host, but for every other game, they just look for the best field (schools bid). I think they try to avoid travel in the second round too, but that's harder to make work. The "limit travel" and "avoid conference games" mandates seem pretty obviously to be given more priority than equitable matchups (after the first 16 are seeded). It's an equal opportunity screw-job. If you're seeded, you may end up playing a much better team than you should in either the very first round (just because they're geographically close to you and from a different conference) or the second round (we played a ranked Rutgers team in the second round last year). And obviously if you're not seeded but pretty close (like us this year), you get no protection of any kind. Virginia is seeded and ranked 15th and they're stuck playing 12th ranked (but unseeded) Pepperdine in the second round. Duke is a one seed, and they play 14th ranked but unseeded OK St. in the second round. South Carolina would have a ranked team in the second round two.

Every year the seeding for the NCAA soccer tournament leaves me scratching my head. They did it to the University of Portland, when they were one of the top 10 programs in the nation and UP consistently leads the country in women's soccer attendance. I think one year UP overcame lousy seeding and won the national title.

Listing as of right now is ESPN3 on Friday 7PM EST. The problem is when you go on ESPN schedule it has three other games, not ours at 7PM. Can those who find out when and where please share as we get closer. I am not getting any info from our WSOC or Wake Forests WSOC sites FYI. I will post if I find anything out. ESPN3 is a streaming channel where you go the "Watch ESPN" app.

Wait and see as we get closer. My experience with ESPN3/WatchESPN is that additional games can pop up on the schedule as the date gets closer. No promises, but don't give up hope.
Also NCAA.com sometimes streams games.

It is definitely an issue, especially, to state the obvious, it now dark by like 5pm. This is one of those cost-benefit questions that didn't really come up until the last couple of years... and it might've been a couple of years too late. The long-term writing is on the walls - Yates will be rebuilt on top of where Shaw Field is now, with one or more fields recreated in the current Yates footprint. The timeline is uncertain, as this will be a ghoulishly expensive proposition. Meanwhile, the north side of campus - including parts immediately adjacent to Shaw - will be tied up in heavy construction from this coming January through the end of 2022 thanks to the new MedStar surgical pavilion. The point is - who wants to pay for lights that really only come into play a couple of times per year when they'll need to be torn down in a decade anyway? And that's before we get to the ever-present possibility of neighbor objections. But yes, it sucks and is frustrating. The latest coaches poll has the Hoyas at #15 and Wake nine spots back at #24. The TopDrawerSoccer poll has the Hoyas all the way up to #8, with the Deacons down at #19. Going by these rankings, the Hoyas should have been seeded!
