You'd have to think that if the kid chose Nebraska to begin with that Connecticut would be the early leader if he follows Hunter, but since recruiting is illogical, I assume that may be entirely wrong.

I watched UVA dominate all year playing a three guard lineup of Jerome, Guy and Hall. I think a class of Akinjo, Johnson and McClung would be awesome.

Would love to get a pipeline to Team Takeover going - very interesting that Johnson and Golden are apparently now on the radar.

This actually worries me based on Akinjo. I like Xavier but need to close the deal on Akinjo. Recruiting is a roller coaster.

Well, Arizona is actively recruiting other PGs as well (Brandon Williams and the graduate transfer from Samford among others). Akinjo is a priority for the Hoyas but I like that it appears that we're not taking anything for granted and/or that we're willing to play with multiple ballhandlers in this era of guard-dominated college basketball.

in an ideal world, xj and akinjo would both come and battle each other in practice for the next 3-4 years. throw mcclung in there, and it seems certain that they would be forced to bring the best out of each other just by sheer competition.

It would be nice to have 3 highly skilled guards coming in, but we need some class balance. Plus, Blair will only be a sophomore.

It is possible that Akinjo cancelled UA at least in part because they were wooing Williams. Our interest in Xavier might give Akinjo the message that he should commit quickly to avoid being left out. Or maybe we want a full complement of talented guards.

Looks like UConn just filled their last scholarship with Yakwe from St John’s. I wonder where Xavier Johnson ends up. Very good player.

I hope here...
I realize we need more help at 4 and 5 but why can't we run a similar 3 guard lineup like Nova does?

This is one of the few times I would get the input from incoming recruit. Akinjo wanted to be a Hoya, Johnson did not. If James wants the keys, then he gets first crack at it until he crashes the car. Johnson only comes if Akinjo is okay with it, Period! I'm pretty sure he signed because of the inside track to start at the point from Day 1. Down the road, of course you recruit talent and let it work itself out.
Like Pickett last year, there was a gaping hole at his position and he wanted to fill it.
