Yaboy I was responding to your what other bugs like Kofi are we on but now it's gone. My response was pretty much all of them. Yea a guy like Aidan may be more athletic but they are all "traditional" bigs. Edit - the question is still there. Response obviously the same Our current offers are Kai Jones, Malcolm Wilson, John Bol Ajak, Chol Marial, Qudus Wahab, and Seth Pinkney. All those kids are long lean athletic bigs that have above average mobility and provide solid rim protection at the position. I don't see how those kids compare to Cockburn who is more of a bully type of big.. As I said they may be more athletic but they are still in the traditional mold. They aren't guys who can switch on the perimeter or at least drag their guy away from the basket on offense. With the current makeup of the team going forward the last thing we need is lane cloggers. We need guys that can defend the Nova bigs. Who is going to be our Omari Spellmman, Mo Wagner hell even Toby Hegner? I think you are of a similar mindset. Which of the guys we are on really move the needle for you? Not to take this too far off topic but if Jessie doesnt shoot at least twice as many 3's this year I will also be disheartened.

Guys, 90% of the class haven't set 1 official visit to a school. Calm down, this is the start.. About a quarter of the top 100 has already declared. This isn't exactly Day 1. Until Pat wins a traditional recruiting battle for a 5-star/top-50 kid, I'll continue to be worried that this experiment is on a St John's track. Top kids don't really seem to care enough about Chris Mullin to help him w/ all that NYC/NJ talent - I'd hoped Patrick's star alone might be greater. I know all the devil's advocate positions, the things that could happen between now and Summer 2019, and the good things Pat has done to this point, but I'd rather be in a bird-in-hand position than to have to hope that two freshman guards can create enough excitement about the program to move the needle. '18-'19 needs to be a better year on the court and on the recruiting front to keep our momentum. I'm hopeful that it will be... but I'm hopeful every year. When we get a Stewart... or a Whitney... or an Anthony.... or a Cockburn/Baker/Morsell/Dixon/Quinones/Bacot/Gaffney, I'll exhale. In year 1, Ewing signed Leblanc, McClung, Akinjo, and Carter, along with securing a 3-point specialist transfer. I'd say he's off to a TERRIFIC start, especially with no track record to sell recruits/families on yet. Ewing is going to be able to land a top flight big man. There is zero doubt in my mind.

OK, maybe the optics - Jamaican, New York, big man - make this a little discouraging, but we have a ton of offers out to a ton of talented players. The staff is everywhere, working their butts off. Patience, we will end up with a strong class.

Don't forget he also landed an experienced, mobile big who will be eligible next year whether we continue to scream for another big or not.

I think it comes down to what you view as traditional but imo they’re run and jump bigs and I think all of those guys are mobile enough to switch on the perimeter. Not sure about game changer but you have to build a team in absence of being able to land NBA guys like the ones you mentioned above. I’d guess they figure Yurt is more of an offensive big who can stretch the floor and post. That fits more of what you want offensively and they need a player who can provide more on the other side of the ball.

If you can’t see a common theme with that group of schools...

Being eliminated from some of these lists actually may be a blessing at this point. It is much better to be kicked off the island now than to invest more time and effort only to be left a bridesmaid.

It's disheartening when we can't make the Top 12 for a center from Jamaica by way of New York at a position of need. Not really, but ok... You guys make way too much out of these connections. LeBlanc is the latest in an impressive Class of 2018 recruiting class that head coach Patrick Ewing has been putting together, joining fellow 4-star forward Grayson Carter. Special shout-out to former Hoya and Louisiana native Darrell Owens, who put in a lot of work with LeBlanc and accompanied him on his visits to Georgetown in September and to Hoya Madness. www.casualhoya.com/2017/10/13/16435792/josh-leblanc-commits-to-georgetown-hoyas

And you're kind of proving my point. I didn't say they didn't matter. I always said it gets you in the door but you have to put in work. Pat and Kofi both being Jamaican is not a reason for a kid to pick a school, it's a conversation piece, that's it.

The reality is the staff is further along relationship and recruiting wise with other 2019 frontcourt prospects to even worry about not making his final list or it being an issue. I have no doubts of the staff luring high quality big man talent for this upcoming class and beyond.

Not a great fit. If we get any of the other mobile bigs we've been on, we will be better off. Big if though.

ot saying I thought he was coming but if you can't get a Jamaican big man who acknowledged that Georgetown is Big Man U and who is a Nike kid who we were in pretty early on to at least make Top 12 it seems odd. We didn't even get the courtesy visit just so the Jamaican parents could fan out with someone they likely cheered for. I don't know what happened. Maybe he is headed to a rival and they said dont put us on. maybe Omer scared him off. Who knows but I am still shocked to not see the Hoyas make the Top 12. This wasn't meant to be a sky is falling post and maybe another foreign big man who plays in NY is headed here. That doesn't make not making Kofi's Top 12 any less shocking to me. Maybe it's time to retire this "Big Man U" argument. Today's HS senior has no memory of Patrick Ewing in the NBA, and watched Mourning and Mutombo playing while they were in third grade. The program needs to look forward. Now that a few recruits have spoken it seems like Georgetown being Big Man U is at the top of Pat's recruiting pitch.

Would like to land a big that can contribute from day one. Projects don’t always pan out. Hopefully, the dominoes start falling sooner rather than later.

The Hoyas had been eliminated a while ago, when he cut his list to 12 at the end of June.
