I predict recruiting violations are eventually found on this one. Makes no sense that he’d pick Illinois, regardless of the Antigua connection.

Need to cheat to win these days. Big upside and little downside. The NCAA is no threat.

The Illini also have one of his former HS & aau teammates on the team, that may have played a big part as well... Why would Uconn or Pitt have been a better choice for him?

How many Scholarships do they have left? Does this eliminate Shannon or do they have enough

How many Scholarships do they have left? Does this eliminate Shannon or do they have enough After this season, they’re likely to run off a bunch of guys - scholarships will not be a problem.

These big state football schools bringing in talent from hundreds to thousands of miles away despite having crappy basketball programs that don't win anything. Dude should have picked a Big East school.

This isn't even about him not going to Georgetown; its about why he would pick freakin' Illinois which has rarely been a noteworthy program.

I just wanted to know where this kid was going to end up. I heard early on in the process that this kids handlers asked Pat about money for this kid's FAMILY. And Pat said no he was not going to do that, so that is why the trail went dry as it did early on. We run a clean program and we will miss out on some top guys. The NCAA is a joke so this is what we have. I'm with Pat.

Sour grapes? 🤪 The whole system is currupt. We face an uphill battle for recruits, despite our HoF coach and top facilities. Look at the top-25 this week. Many non-traditional basketball names on the list. Folks don’t care about rules anymore when everybody’s breaking them.

We face an uphill battle for recruits, despite our HoF coach and top facilities. "Top facilities" is a misnomer. The Thompson Center took Georgetown to a facility which is comparable but by no means superior to dozens of such facilities elsewhere. There is only one HoF member who was elected both for his play (a National Player of the Year) and for his coaching: John Wooden.

And by most accounts Coach Wooden dealt with one or more "handlers" regularly.

And by most accounts Coach Wooden dealt with one or more "handlers" regularly. No rendering of Wooden's legacy, though, is complete without mention of a man who influenced one of sport's most unimpeachable dynasties: Sam Gilbert. If Wooden was the father figure of UCLA basketball, Gilbert was its shadowy one. articles.latimes.com/2010/jun/08/sports/la-sp-0609-wooden-gilbert-20100609

Wooden was just astute enough to deal with the master.
