This thing is biblical! Shakespearean! Fire the son, gangster-style, and then pull the strings and get the Families to agree to bring back the prodigal son. We may not have many wins, but we sure have a lot of drama. And in about five years, we'll know if the prodigal son has to be fired. Way to leverage the legacy drama.

I wonder if Ewing detailed some members of his proposed staff during his interview. His old teammate and former Calipari recruiter Rod Strickland is currently unemployed but apparently up for some low level HC jobs. He'd be a great pick up. Strickland is 100% interested.

Well at least no other team can say they have a taller coach. I'm hoping this equates to some good buzz around the program. Ewing has so many ties from his HS, college , NBA days to the East Coast that I'm hoping it translates to pulling in the big recruits. Just hope by Year 3 I don't have to change my Hoyatalk image because the Hoya legend fails at coaching.

Hopefully he is on a plane to New Haven already. And yes, you can take a plane to New Haven. Maybe bring AI with him just for fun. I fully, 100% support this hire. Pat has just as much ability and potential as any prospect. To me, his roots in the program are a positive, not a negative. HOYA SAXA Can you imagine if Tremont recommitted? Unlikely but it would be huge. I mean, if it's true that his dad was such a big Georgetown fan and that helped with the original commitment, you'd have to think it's at least possible?

Only down side is He Who Must Not Be Named and his minons who all coincidentally happen to come from the same geographic region will continue to wage war against the Thompson's and he basketball program.
After all the hard work they put in trying to get rid of the Thompson's for the last seven years must be demoralizing to have to continue the campaign for the foreseeable future.

While it may well take that long, I am certain that, given the skepticism surrounding the choice, we will be at each other's throats if we don't see some decent progress by then.

I'd like to see two big recruiters with DC area ties and one former head coach who can help with the running the program part of the job. Anyone know what PE's relationship is with Buzz Peterson? Zagoria reported that Ewing has Peterson reaching out to potential assistants for him. Apparently working on bringing in Shammond Williams, an assistant at Western Kentucky, who helped them get a McD AA and top 40 player in this year's recruiting class That would be a home run. Shammond is a great guy who will be a head coach one day.
