First key will be assistants. I don't mind if he keeps PEJr or Wallace (they have minor positions anyway) but I think Broadus and maybe Solomon need to be replaced. Next hit the trail hard. Lots of open spots to be filled. I hope we go after the cream of the crop that is left over. Swing for the fences. Finally, appease the fans. Many will be upset by this move since it is so close to the JTJr legacy. Personally, I think it's a legacy not worth burning. Either way, Pat needs to make it clear that this is HIS team. I'd like to see two big recruiters with DC area ties and one former head coach who can help with the running the program part of the job. Anyone know what PE's relationship is with Buzz Peterson? Zagoria reported that Ewing has Peterson reaching out to potential assistants for him. Apparently working on bringing in Shammond Williams, an assistant at Western Kentucky, who helped them get a McD AA and top 40 player in this year's recruiting class

Considering the current roster, PE needs to get at least one honeymoon year. Let's see some improved fundamentals, better D, and a step up in recruiting, and the W's don't have to come that fast. Congrats to Coach.

Something very comforting about having the Big Fella back on campus. There are asses to be kicked and names to be taken.
Brighter days are ahead.

Not the coach I wanted to see hired but I will support him. I can't wait to see the headlines next year the first time Georgetown and St Johns play.

As noted above, the recruiting ability of Ewing's assistant coaches will be key to the future success of the Hoyas. There's not much in the pantry right now, so the honeymoon period is going to be extended, and we will have to be patient for (in my opinion, at least) a couple of years.
That being said (or typed), the new Ewing era begins, and hope springs eternal once more. Welcome back, Patrick!

Mitchell Robinson is a 6'11" 5-star Center. Josh Anderson is a 6'5" 4-star SF. Both out of Louisiana...he also may be the WKY recruiter on Zion Williamson.

so does Korn Ferry actually get paid for this?
good luck PE - I am hoping for his success. This was not a search, however.

Patrick in his closing pitch to a 5 star recruit--Let's take a look at the video of the National Championship Game in 1984. I was the Center on the Hoya team that destroyed Houston.... Notice the Defensive intensity. I also played for 15 years in the NBA. Was pretty decent. Just moved back to my alma mater from the Charlotte Hornets where I was the associate head coach. I guess you could say that I know what it takes to make it in the NBA. Do you have that kind of intensity? Will you leave everything you have on the court and in the classroom.. If you do , I can get you ready for the big show. Congrats PE-- and welcome back! Want the best for you and to bring Georgetown another National Championship...should only take 5 years!

Turns out Williams is Mitchell Robinson's god father, which makes me think Williams could bring Robinson with him, like with Michael Porter

Congrats to Coach. Year one is a throwaway for the reason you cited. Year two needs to show movement in the right direction. And Year three needs to have us back on the national stage. Thats my timetable for him. I'll be rooting for him.
