Really going to be hard to sell the whole family thing when the son of one of our most famous players wants out too. I don't see how one has anything to do with the other.

Good luck to Trey! I will never understand how he did not play more this year, I mean we could have used all the help we could get. I wonder how this can be spun by those still supporting III? A former great Hoya's son is transferring with 1 single year of eligibility left, wow.

Trey worked hard. It must have been difficult for him to watch his teammates play (and often not do well). He deserves to play somewhere. This is a harbinger no doubt. His father is on the President DeGoia's working group for Athletics.

Seems like a great kid, who has worked hard and has a bit of talent. Will be rooting for him wherever he goes.

That's one of the selling points into joining GU: Education/Family/Development Along w/the other schools that recruit players. So therefore, GU isn't a unique school like others then. It seems like ppl like to speak on it as if GU is on another playing field in that regards.

I would hate to see the program become even more of a national punchline if there are more transfers (blueandgray used the plural). It would seem an opportunity to slide JTIII into the type of newly-created or retitlef administrative position many have suggested with some type of scrubbed story for the reasoning. It might be too late to change the plans of waters or of any other potential transfers, but at least you get some new energy and direction to try to get worthwhile recruits to commit.
The other spectrum is circling the wagons, with the mindset that you are not going to let recruits and potential threats of transfer dictate coaching decisions, JTIII rebuilt the program once, he can do it again, etc.
Circling the wagons usually just prolonged the inevitable.

I can't think of a single case where a succesful coach saw the bottom drop out and then rebuilt from the ground up successfully. True most are never given a chance but I just can't think of any instance of this. We are in unchartered waters.

9 players left assuming Peak doesn't try to go pro. Hoping no future transfers but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities to see another person who was out of the rotation feeling a need to pursue greener pastures. Hard to believe the Peak, Copeland, White, Campbell & Mourning class is down to two. Hard to fathom any being here next year. Not sure why LJ or Tre would come back for their own individual but different reasons.

Trying to make sense of the timing of this announcement. If JT3 is about to be let go, these types of announcements (and Waters) typically come after the coach is gone. No?
If Trey is leaving but JT3 is not, if feels even more troubling as it would seem to show a rift between the Mournings and JT3 (let alone the program), especially since he's transferring after his 3rd year.

I agree ColumbiaHeightsHoya -- I can't recall any college coach being able to turn things around when it's gotten this bad under his watch.

I believe there will be more transfers. Ok now it's time to wave the white flag and panic.

Zo is a very important alumnus. This is not a good situation. It is now clear to me at least that Trey wanted playing time. Yes he turned the ball over and fouled way too much but he also had some real flashes. He had a couple of really good Kenner league games and some disappearing acts. The sample size was simply not big enough for fans to have an informed view. JT3 backers would fall back on the, "Coaches see him in practice every day and only they can assess who can play." That doesn't really ring true after back-to-back losing seasons and some pretty mediocre playing from our bigs. It also clearly didn't ring true with Trey who, after 3 years at Georgetown, decides to pack his bags and presumably head to play for someone who will give him a real chance. This is a bad, bad signal to send to our former players. If JT2 is the King of Hoya Basketball, then Zo is a Prince. He's also on the board of trustees athletic department working group. For him to pull his son, who is a Junior, out of G-Town to go somewhere else is 1000% the wrong message. Not sure how or why Trey was recruited to the team if this was a real possibility.

I don't think zo pulled him out. He's always let Trey makes his own decision. I think whatever happened that made Cameron initially quit caused a huge disruption to the team that left a bitter taste in everyone's mouth. I have no idea what that is but in retrospect something must have been very wrong on the team for Cameron to give up a trip to Hawaii and quit the team

I believe there will be more transfers. Oh well. As long as the program can field at least 6 players on the roster they should be fine. 2-3 zone here we come. Do you have eligibility left? I have close relatives at the U. I'm going to tell them to walk-on.

If you played H.S. ball dust off the Chucks; plenty of room for walk-ons.
