Why else would you play in the NIT? To win it. We aren't winless, games could be won and you never know in ANY type of tournament. Clearly they'll be more hyped up if we make the NCAAs then the NIT but you play the games put in-front of you. Isaac was one of many players on the roster, they could have all ended it as well but they didn't quit. It has definitely been a struggle this season but I (and I'm sure others) expect our players to continue to fight in the face of adversity and try to rise above it. No one else (player, manger or coach) has quit on this team this year, so I'm not sure how 1 out of 15 is an example of the rest. I just brought up Issac as an example to show how ubsurd it is to say all the players want to keep playing. I'm not saying others want to quit the team. I am also not saying they won't be playing in a gym a few days after the season is over. I do know not all of them want the hassle of playing in the current structure with the way things are going. It's hard being an athlete and student in season. On top of that they could go on Spring Break right away. I am not saying it's even most but I'm saying its more than none. We're talking about a game. Not practice. A game. That is what you live for as an athlete. If you don't believe in the coach you do your own thing and get benched. If all your teammates don't believe in the coach, you play the game anyway. Do you have quotes from players saying that they are done with "the hassle of playing in the current structure with the way things are gone"? I can see frustrated but they all still seem to be giving all their effort. Did you notice the guys crying after the loss to DePaul? It hurt them bad too but they hadn't quit. It's definitely been a hard season and everyone is ready for a break but it's not over yet. If you're a high level basketball player, you haven't had a Spring Break to yourself in years, this has been their season since they were 4/5 years old. Have they thought of nice summer days? Of course! Who hasn't this winter. In no way though does that mean they want to lose, lose, lose, and not make any post season to end the year. It may happen but no one on that court is giving up.

Why don't some of you guys ask the players whether they would want to play in the NIT or just be done playing ball this year (and at least a couple of them possibly for good)? The players want to play basketball. That is what matters. Not our blatherings. This is simply not true. I am not going to argue it but not everyone on this team wants to play after the BET unless somehow they win it. In a bad underachieving season where there are a lot of struggles some players want it to be over. Isaac wanted it to be over so bad he ended it himself. How do you know that any of our current players "want it to be over"? You know them personally? They have told you? If so, then I stand corrected. And I think we can surmise from numerous posts that Copeland may just want to look everywhere for excuses except in the mirror. On the bright side for him, the nightlife in Lincoln won't be nearly as much of a distraction from working to get better.

The loss to DePaul is not going away- I agree. But each win going forward helps at least a tiny bit, and I will take that. It depends on what your goals are for the remainder of the season. If you just want to build some quality wins for next season, then I agree. If you are still holding on to a glimmer of tourney chances, then I disagree....with our record the only trump card we had was "no bad losses". That's gone and now we need to win the BET to get in the NCAA tourney. That isn't happening this year.........next year? If Peak returns......... My goal is to win as many games as possible. I will take all of the wins this team can find.

The game is on YES network in NYC area. I always root for the team, but I don't believe we have the coach to sustain a brand. If we aspire to be top dog, he will not get us there. I admire his moral compass and his community activism, i.e., soup kitchens and cancer crusade. Administration needs to weigh priorities, but you don't pay a coach $3mm and build a $65mm practice facility to just graduate kids.

I could care less if the band plays Hawaii 5-0 or 50 cent if the basketball team performs at a high level and wins games, the rest will fall into place. If we fix the team (starting with the coach) it will impact the rest just fine.

As one of the founding members of the Pep Band and present when Hawaii 5-0 was added to the play list, enough of the 5-0 bashing!!! But KHoyaNYC is correct. If the team wins, no one cares what the Pep Band is playing. In the early days (mid 1970s) JTII used to mention that the band and the cheerleaders were often the only Hoya fans at away games and was quite appreciative of our measly efforts. (I might add that the Hoya had an editorial criticizing the Pep Band for playing at basketball games because of the small size and quality at the beginning).

Any info on Kaleb for Marcus to start?
Could justify a not playing well/change the look explanation, but then Marcus came right in.
