Plus/minus for tonight's game, as calculated from the play-by-play at Gametracker as posted at guhoyas.com: Govan +7, Derrickson +4, Mulmore even, Cameron -6, Peak -7, Mosely -8, Pryor -8, Agau -12, Johnson -12, Hayes -13, Campbell DNP/injured (knee), Hines DNP/coach's decision, Mourning DNP/coach's decision, Muresan DNP/coach's decision. Look at the Govan/Hayes disparity. Tells you all you need to know.

This loss would be more encouraging had we found a way to beat Maryland, Providence, Butler at home, SHU. If so it's a close road loss to a Top 5 team, and you take positives from the 2nd half.
But because we didn't, it's just another missed opportunity...

How to lose a game in five easy steps: 1. 2:18: Instead of a dunk and foul to tie the score, Pryor goes one for two from the line. 2. 1:51 Peak turnover 3. 1:04: Peak goes one for two from the line 4. 0:50: Peak blocked down low 5: 0:42: Pryor misses wide from three Five possessions, two points. Or to quote Boris Karloff in the Grinch, "stink, stank, stunk" After so many end of game fails, you would think we'd learn from other teams. What you do in the last few minutes of a close game is spead the floor and keep the ball in your best players hands until he can get to the basket. To be fair, we did more of that tonight, but we still have to many guys clogging the paint. I think that made Peak to have to dribble around too much.

Should we be proud of our other losses when we come close and show heart? What has this team become?

Tough loss.
Clawed their way back to make it a game.
On to the next game.
Go Hoyas.

The chant directed at us tonight was sadly accurate. Still hard to believe we fouled so much when they literally could not put the ball in the basket from anywhere but the free throw line. Just an unprepared team. Who's responsible for preparation? What was the chant? Can't be "overrated."

Maybe "underrated" since we pulled it close and we aren't even close to being rated. Hopefully they aren't calling us a safety school at this point since their admissions spiked after the NC.

Two word chant telling us we're not very good. At all. I'm guessing Hoya Suxa. Super original.

Two word chant telling us we're not very good. At all. You can tell us. We can take it. I can think of many two word chants that would fit.

But some of us said we have talent and no plan for that talent. Like I said, switch those coaches tonight and make them coach the other team and I bet we come out on top. Couldn't have said it better myself. The problem is the misidentification of needs and coaching not talent.

This is what drives me crazy, it's the end of game execution. We are just awful in tight, high-pressure situations. We haven't had a Maryland level melt down since that game, but we still can't close out a game effectively very often, much less claw in from behind. I would treat tonight's performance slightly differently, though, because of the course of the game. We made a huge run over a ten minute period or so. Because we spent so much time coming back, we didn't get many chances to go for the lead. We only had a couple, and once we couldn't capitalize it was game over. Again, totally agreed on the frustration. I just still think tonight was a little different.

Pluses: Govan looking better and better. Agau is too.
Minuses: NO POINT GUARD. Put any half decent point guard on this team and we are at least 16-9 maybe 17-8.
MIA: Marcus Derrickson.

On a lighter note, enjoying the FS1 post game highlighting different BE teams and players between the insights of Lavin. Nice little glimpse at the Thompson center.

As others said, this game wouldn't hurt if we had gotten 4-5 others we couldn't close out.

I'm no more an expert than anyone else here, but I've played and watched a lot of hoops in my long life. I have no idea why that group of players for Nova constitutes a team ranked higher than Kentucky, Kansas and Carolina. Not as tall or athletic as many of our guys. Amazing they are #2 in the nation and we are praying for an NIT bid.

Amazing they are #2 in the nation and we are praying for an NIT bid. They win and and they are coming off a NC which helps their status. No one gave them a chance last year to beat UNC and the others they went through but a well coached team with an experienced set of players buying in can beat talent. But I hear you, they don't pass the eye test but that doesn't always matter.

Govan looking better on offense. He is still woefully deficient on defense. Silly fouls, can't box out, slow on hedges and switches.
