The Marquette loss can be overlooked due to 1st game without Watson and Marquette beat Villanova But how they look tonight, this game for the most part has been non-competitive. They are down double digits to a Hoyas team that has not beat anyone in the BE besides DePaul and St. Johns, one day short of a full year (Creighton Jan. 26, 2016) Alarm bells have to be going off for the Blue Jays faithful. So now we can flush the "no one but Depaul and St. John's" story line. I sure hope so but I expect the asterisks to come out soon for some.

Great win, we had contributions from all the veterans on the team as well as no negatives from the new guys. That is what we need to be successful. Everyone showed good effort and we attacked the boards. It looked like the guys trusted the system and their teammates*; getting them open shots ontop of the shots they create for themselves. It clearly helped not being eviscerated by an opposing PG but hopefully this will get the guys going the right direction and realize they can win as long as they don't allow the other team to run all over them. It's crazy how much better you look when both of your two best players play well at the same time. We've have some solid pieces but we won't win most BE games without both Pryor and Peak.

Tough to evaluate how good of a win this was with Creighton in a state of transition. We did give up about 40 points less than Marq. did against them and Watson did not play in that game either. Creighton missed more 3s than normal but the energy was there from the defense. Offense was more crisp than usual, and Mulmore continues to flash the ability to create, just need it more consistently. I do think it's taking him time to adjust to this level, hopefully he continues to improve because it's a dynamic no other guard has right now. As stated, when Peak and Pryor are playing well, we have a good chance to win.

And when your opponent shoots 1-18 from 3. So we played great perimeter defense!? Actually defense was not bad tonight. They played with close to max effort all game and Creighton's shooting was definitely affected. And don't forget that boxing out and grabbing rebounds is a big part of defense and they did an excellent job of that tonight.

Everyone notice the sense of "urgency" in JT3s sideline performance tonight? The announcers sure did. Gotta think he wanted this one real bad.

For all of our futility in the BE: Creighton has never won a BE game at Verizon.
Now let's start defending home court from the rest of the league!

Wow! That Creighton FT defense was great. I gather every other facet of their play was poor. Truth be told, I have been traveling and did not even know the Hoyas played tonight. So great surprise when I see the good guys won by 20! Will this kick start anything for the Hoyas?

Interesting that we won handily with only 2 points from our PG's - and no minutes for Campbell after a decent game Saturday.

Isn't it funny how a good pg can make a coach look a lot smarter than he is and his teammates look a lot better than they are. The Hoyas help defense was a lot better tonight. I know Watson was not playing tonight but none of their guards were able to get into the lane much tonight. That same effort especially on the boards can win games in the BE.

So that is what it is like to play defense against a team without a point guard who can beat his man off the dribble - sure makes playing D a lot easier! We all defended the Pick and Roll differently tonight. We were usually doubling the guard with the center, very aggressively. Then the rest of the D needed to rotate behind this to cut off the roll man in the lane. The bigs did a really good job of keeping the guard from quickly finding an open teammate in a dangerous position. I can't remember us using this PnR defensive approach in recent years. At most, we had the bigs hedging and recovering. Tonight the bigs were not looking to recover, they were sticking with the hard trap double team. It will be interesting to see if we try this more moving forward.

You say flip the script, I would like to know how you think that is going to happen? In detail please.... If you didn't watch the game tonight I suggest you locate it on DVR.

Interesting that we won handily with only 2 points from our PG's - and no minutes for Campbell after a decent game Saturday. I think it was addition by subtraction, and I mean just reducing the number of substitutions of point guards coming in and out of the game provided stability at the position and to the team. He chose to start Mulmore and he stayed with him, he had a clear and concise rotation tonight and seemed to help.

Liked Mulmore tonight. Love to see him add a little offense to his game.
Good energetic defense. Yeah they were helped by the absence of Watson big time. But first time in years that the Hoyas looked like they enjoyed playing defense. If that carries over to other games this season, we will win a few more.

His job is to get his teammates involved and to make them better. Knock down opens shots, not forced, but open. On defense Mulmore does not belong down in paint defending 6' 9" players. He still needs to sit low and slide his feet. The thing about Mulmore you haven't seen the best of him. Give him the starting nod coach.
