Did not see Xavier game but sounds like some decent improvements offensively. Nevertheless, I expect we lose by 15.

The only "improvements" were unexpected contributions from the bench. The starters and Govan were woeful with the exception of Pryor, and the rebounding was weak as usual.

Unfortunately it will be more of the same unless the Hoyas decide they want to rebound and avoid fouling.

Pryor got a lot in junk time too against X. I think without Mo Watson there is a chance at home. I am still expecting to get swept by Creighton, split with Depaul, get swept by Seton Hall and Nova. Throw in some of the others and I think we can get to 4-14 in conference.

Why did Pryor not shoot more until garbage time? I noticed that following online. Unlike him to not be hoisting it up early and often.

I think it came down to the desperation of the late game. He didn't have to shoot within the offensive structure at that point.

Double-edged sword: slower pace early kept the game close but limited contributions from Rodney and LJ. I think Hoyas may need to slow it down and stick with that to pull out some wins.

Watson is awesome and it is truly a shame that he is done for the season.
Without a great point guard to do the usual and make us look foolish, I am thinking this is a win. I know, call me crazy.

His aggressiveness has noticeably diminished during Big East play, unfortunately. Maybe the 37 mpg at the beginning of the season have taken its toll on him and Peak. They and Pryor look tired. After all the talk of speeding the game up on offense and pressing on defense, I saw Peak walking the ball up a la DSR several times. The mpg of the tough OOC might be catching up to both of them. I'm guessing here, but it might be another explanation to what we're watching.

I might suggest also that other teams have now been able to develop a pretty good scouting report on Pryor that allows them to defend him better. Make him try to go to his right, crowd his shots along the baseline, make him put it on the floor every time. In addition, the continued struggles of the bigs have decreased the numbers of double teams down low that left perimeter shooters more open.
