No, they are the first to say it at a post-game press conference. Instead of the usual BS heard during press conferences, the kid spelled it out. Now there is no hiding from it. Wasn't actually at the press conference, it was during the brief live on court postgame interview. hoyatalk2.proboards.com/post/708212/threadWorse.

You think Marquette is the first team to notice our lazy defense? It may be news to you, but what he said isn't exactly groundbreaking.... No, they are the first to say it at a post-game press conference. Instead of the usual BS heard during press conferences, the kid spelled it out. Now there is no hiding from it. There wasn't hiding from it before, these kids' communication isn't limited to press conferences...

He shot well from the floor and hit at least 3 of those 6-dribble pull-ups you referenced....what are you really mad at? I am talking about his trying to shake his man bogging down the offense. One play off the top my head I can remember where it is a clear indication of guys not moving is Johnson's 2nd dunk in a row. Pryor got the ball at the top tried to shake him for 3 secs and got nowhere and throws a telegraphed pass which I believe it was Mosely was just stuck watching the dribbling exhibition. Also his forays 1-3 on the break when he has teammates running with him. My gripe is he tries too hard to shake guys instrad of straight line driving which when you have a motion based offense means people are prone to just sit and watch rather than keep moving because the ball is stuck. On that play, actually, as soon as Rodney caught the ball and looked immediately to Mosley to swing it but he was wide open and the possession or two before he completely air balled a 3 attempt. Rodney couldn't pass it to Mosley early because Mosley has been horrible from outside and kills spacing, and by the time Rodney had to give it up there wasn't anywhere to go with it. Not to mention that last 1 on 3 was the correct basketball play. He knew he had trailers and took the attention of three defenders, I knew the tip was how we were going to score before Rodney even dribbled inside the 3 or line. Try again.

Plus/minus for last night's game, as calculated from the play-by-play posted at guhoyas.com:
Hayes +14, Mulmore +5, Derrickson +2, Cameron -1, Campbell -1, Johnson -4, Mosely -5, Pryor -8, Agau -11, Peak -20, Govan -21, Hines DNP/coach's decision, Muresan DNP/coach's decision, Mourning DNP/coach's decision.

Have to say, I have not seen anything from Hayes to warrant significant minutes on the floor. I respect Hayes' commitment to the team and everything, but he needs to step it up now.

Try again. def not what happened in that 1st example he tried to go by but there was help right there with the big and he pounded it and brought the ball back to the same side. he just have gone to the other side with the ball instead of lazily throwing back to him. Also spacing was killed by him. it was the beginning of the possession reverse the ball if nothing there. The airballed 3 was literally the possession right before. There was over 20 secs on the shot clock.

Bradley understands defensive positioning better than Jessie, but his lack of athleticism hurts him - and neither one of our bigs has fast-twitch capability, so they can't adjust quickly, including when rebounding.

Also it was not right to go 1 on 3 since he got bottled up and couldnt even finish on his strong hand.

Hear you, but how do you explain or excuse those bunny shots and put-backs that he has been blowing all this year? Don't you think by now he should have been able to fix those?

You JT3 haters just refuse to recognize that PLAYERS HAVE TO PLAY. Was Peak's performance due to Thompson's coaching? Were Mosley's airball 3 and Pryor's backboard 3 called by the coach? Of course the coach is responsible for which players get on the court and much of how they are prepped, but they still need to perform. When they do perform well you get a six game win streak. When they don't you get a loss. On the road. In conference play. You act as if they are supposed to win every gave. Do you really believe that to be true? Can't a road loss occur when the best player plays badly, and not have the world end? Been waiting for that post. Long overdue and good for you centercourt. To expect this coach to win with this garbage is beyond me. This board is unreasonable to expect success when we have these players. Thanks for pointing that out as it needed to be said. Whoever is recruiting this mess should be fired, not coach. eagle54: DO NOT twist my post and my words to fit your ultra-negative agenda. It's fair game to criticize the performance of a player on any given night but I would never stoop to calling student athletes "garbage". If you want to insult them it is on your conscience but don't use me as a launching pad for your venom.

Can't explain it, he hit those shots last year. I certainly agree that Jessie gets the majority of the minutes right now, but Hayes would be a useful piece if he can rediscover his touch.

I hear and agree with the criticism of our bigs offensive woes. But I just think in today's game all we really need from these guys is to control the paint defensively and rebound. Sure it's nice that Jesse can hit 3's but if our perimeter guys knew they could count on our bigs to clean up any blow bys they could be much more aggressive against 3 point shooters. I think we saw that in our last few OOC games where we held some pretty good shooting teams in check. But against BE caliber teams the bigs are overmatched.

At least 4 glaring issues last night: 1. LJ could not finish 2. Got crushed re second-chance points and OR AGAIN 3. Mosley was awful on both ends - first game where he has looked like a HS kid playing with men 4. Soft around rim - rip the boards and rip the rim down on put backs and bunnies. We finish softer than any team I have ever seen. Where is the nasty?

I'm sure the 600 in attendance will help with that. Do they still bus from campus or have the students stopped coming to home games? 602.... My husband and I will be there! Thanks for doing your part.
